First Impressions
Ok after a 3 month wait I finally picked up my new truck today. First truck I've had as well.
For reference it's a 301A XLT 2.7L Eco.
I find the interior lighting poor. The amount of light provided isn't adequate.
The radio kinda sucks. It's ok but nothing to write home about. And the my ford touch or whatever is in it isn't great either. Menu's are a not exactly user friendly. Just over all not incredibly impressed.
My back hurts like hell. I can't necessarily attribute this to the truck. I spent 5 hrs in a nissan sentra then 2hrs on a subway before 4.5hrs in the truck which may have contributed to the pain. Time will tell. I also need to fiddle with the seats to get it just where I like it. And god help the fool that mucks with my seat once I have it set. That's a throat punch worthy offense.
The 2.7 was nice. Everything was highway driving. But the power was there when I needed it. Now that I have it home I will try out sport mode around town for some fun.
Fuel economy was really good(IMHO). Drive home was 275miles or so and average 22mpg on the highway. Construction and some stop and go traffic along the way. I didn't buy a truck for fuel economy but still I'm impressed.
Roomy as hell in the back seat. Damn that's a lot of leg room. Makes me kinda wish there was a screw 6ft box option that had 6 inches less legroom in the back seat.
Ordered it with the centre console. Best spent money by far. So glad I got it. I only wish that the tray next to driver and beverage tray were interchangeable so you could set it up the way you want.
Loud highway noise from rear driver's side door was a huge disappointment as I pulled away from dealership. Oh **** guess I should close it properly. Ha ha.
The drive was really nice. Power when I needed it. Cruise control works well(doesn't hunt). Holds it's line really well. Really aside from my back issue(which may not be seat related) it was a really pleasurable drive.
Minor nitpick. Lane change controller a hair too far up for my tastes. I'd like that controller closer to 9:30 on the wheel over it's 10:30-11 o'clock position.
Remote start range sucks. I'm used to my 4000ft remote start. The range on the factory one disappointed.
Should have gotten some running boards. My kids are going to have a real hard time. Dealer offered to put some on for $300. Kicking myself for not taking him up on the offer but I wanted to get the hell out of there as I had a 4hr drive home.
That's it for now. Will do some town driving tomorrow and although most of this is negative I'm still overall very satisfied.

on my Lariat there are three buttons on the drivers door that, once you set your set and mirrors will hold them. My wife is of course #1, and I use #2. Get in, hit the #2 button and everything moves where it should.
For this, although I know it sounds funny and looks silly, hold it under your chin and do it. There's another thread on here about that and there have been a lot of comments about this working to help extend the range. Of course now that I'm looking for it I can't find it to link it, but that was the recommendation on a way people had found to make it work better.

Here's the right thread, it just popped up again, figured I'd drop it in for you to peruse.
