Got a question for you folks, I just bought my first Ford on April 6th. It's a 2018 F150 XLT Super Crew FX4. Truck has 402 miles on it and today when I pulled into driveway and cut the truck off, all the coolant started dumping on the ground from under the truck.
After it stopped raining coolant I crawled under there and a hose had popped off, as aggravating as it is, I'm glad its just a hose and nothing major (I hope there isn't a major issue that caused it). Called my sales rep to give me a name to service dept, he told me to call Ford Roadside Assistance, which kind of rubbed me wrong given I haven't had truck 2 weeks yet. I guess he mentioned it his manager, with in a couple minutes of hanging up with sales rep, the General Manager called and told me not to call roadside assistance, the dealership would come pick it up and bring it back to me.
My question is what is the name of this part that the hose attached to?
This is looking up from under the truck towards hood
thats awful, crappy to hear, especially as your first impression on the F150... that looks like the electric coolant pump that circulates the fluid during auto start/stop....easy fix, should be no damage.... seems like someone didnt do their job right at the plant!
Thanks Thugzy, I thought it may have has something to do with auto start/stop, but I know just enough to be dangerous...ha.
The dealership is stepping up and I knew it was a warranty issue just didn't want it to be a major issue. My only concern with calling roadside assistance, is that the dealership hasn't even gotten my plate plates in yet, so I wanted them to handle it and arrange towing instead of roadside assistance sending some jackleg out to tow it and damage it then another battle with that tow company etc, this way, the dealership did the towing and they would have ownership of any damage.
This hasn't and won't give me a negative impression of Ford, I like the truck, I think car manufacturuers use the warranty process as their quality assurance process.
I'm just glad it happened before I put in a spray-in liner or floor mats so they dealer couldn't deny warranty due to aftermarket accessories...ha
Thanks again for the replies, I have enjoyed this site,
Pretty sad...I had a coolant leak on my 2018 as well. I smelled it when the truck got hot. Brought it to the dealer closest to me and they didn't do crap. Then I brought it to the dealer I purchased it from and they found a coolant line with a quick connect that wasn't fully locked in place. I'm lucky it didn't come off when I was on the highway.

I am glad I was in my driveway, as aggravating as these issues can be, could of have been much worse.
It definitely happened at the best spot! My last vehicle’s water pump failed as I pulled into the parking lot at my office. Perfect...I just went inside and got on the phone to get it handled.
I think this might be some sort of Ford initiation program. I bought my first Ford ever last year and the brakes went out on it not long after getting it. The dealership was great and I haven’t let it bother me because things happen...they fixed it and all has been pretty good since.
I had a paint issue with my 2018, which was also my first Ford purchase. Truck was delivered from a dealer that was about 2 hrs away. After they left (and the snow melted off) I discovered a factory paint blemish. Boy was I pissed. I was expecting the dealer to tell me "tough luck, it's yours now". But, they blew me away with their customer service. I picked out a new truck and they delievered the replacement back to my house and drove away the blemished one. Threw in a bedliner for my troubles too.
Moral of the story is that the dealer can make or break your experience and opinion on the brand. Most dealers will take care of you if you are cool with them.

For what it's worth, Ford Roadside *should* cover any damages by the towing company as they are the ones contracting the tow company.
My 2017 was on a roll back headed to the dealer within the first 12 hours of my ownership. I bought it from a dealer 1.5 hours away and when I got home (after midnight as we closed the dealership down and then some that night making the deal), I discovered that it had dumped transmission fluid the whole way home as soon as I got out. Called the dealer I bought it from and they told me to have Ford Roadside take it to my local dealer that I use, which is what I did. Had to escalate things with them for the first time ever to get them to look at it that day by getting a case number from Ford. With that they put it on the rack as soon as we arrived and discovered the dealer I bought it from overfilled the transmission when they did the park pin recall on it.
All of that aside, it's been a great truck so far with no other issues.
