Default Finding Part Numbers

I apologize if this has been asked over and over, but I see all these posts with people buying replacement bulbs, etc. How is everyone obtaining the part number to be replaced? Is everyone removing the bulbs or hardware and finding the number there, or is there a master catalog somewhere that you can query for a specifici item?

Even wiring harnesses, etc. how does everyone know what they have vs. what they need? Or am I that oblivious to the obvious?

Bulb numbers can be found in the owners manual.

Are you just trying to do OEM replacement for what your truck already has or are you trying to swap the complete light assembly altogether?

If you call Tasca, or any other OEM parts vendor I'm sure they will be glad to help you when you're buying. Or go on the website and you can enter your VIN number to match the correct parts.

I saw a thread just now with fog lamp bulb replacement, I was just curious if they physically removed the bulb or if it was documented elsewhere. I do a lot of my research while not at home near my truck is why I ask.

I realize the Anzo's replace the entire assembly but you can just replace the bulb as well. I'd like to get the headlights and fog lights the same color, etc. in LED. I'm not sure I want to spend the money on the Anzo's though and still have to replace those bulbs.

I'd prefer to just replace the bulbs if possible.

So it sounds like you want to stick with OEM then. Like BCM said, the light bulb size should be in the manual. Or if you go to pretty much any auto parts store web site and enter your vehicle's info, the site should already know what size you need.

There are a few vendors here that offer LED fog light replacements. They are plug and play. I have Diode Dynamics XML2 lights. Many others here like the Morimotos as well.

I have replaced all my bulbs with after market LEDs.

Thanks. A lot of my problems are that most of the websites don't have 2017 models available and I'm leery of purchasing the 2016 products in case there are changes in the part numbers, etc.

Matching the color of light is another problem. I have the LED light on the tailgate, so it would be nice to match license plate lights with that, etc. I guess a lot of people do a lot of research and trial and error.
