Traded in the Subaru WRX I had for 10 years in on this guy. I'm going to miss that car a lot but I look forward to making this one my own.
2017 XLT 302a special edition package. 3.5L Ecoboost with 10 speed.
Not feeling the vinyl graphics so I'll probably take those off. But I love the interior. Thanks all for the information before going in to the dealer. I think the first mod is the tail gate damper.
Congrats on the new truck...looks good.
If you look around, you can get the OEM Ford tailgate damper kit for a great price.
I have a question? How old are you?
The reason that i`m asking is because you said you traded in your WRX after ten years,so I was wondering if something told you it`s time to change the type of vehicle that you drive.
I used to drive only Mustangs and when I turned 39, something told me it was time to change and i`ve been in F150`s for 10 years now and I don`t regreat it.
I apologize for the slight hijacking of your thread but I just thought the change after 10 yrs of the WRX was interesting.
I didn't realize the xlt doesn't have a damper??? You have to go Lariat to get this? I could have swore when I was looking that the xlt's had this. Can you get this as an option on the xlt? I'm just curious, is this all you need?

From what I heard, if you go the OEM route, its cheaper to buy the parts separately rather then the package deal.
Also, here are my thoughts for OEM vs Deezee.
OEM Pros:
-Hidden
OEM Cons:
-More expensive.
-More time to install (have to remove tailgate and rear tail light).
-Some people stated that towards the end of the lower travel the tailgate drops off making a slight thud (only some).
-If the piston/shaft ever fails, you would have to remove the tailgate and light again.
Deezee Cons:
-Piston/shaft is visible with tailgate open.
Deezee Pros:
-Less expensive.
-Faster install (took me 10min).
-If the piston/shaft ever fails, and since its exposed, pop off the old shaft and replace with new without removing anything else.

Simple take your time/first time install of maybe 45-minutes to an hour.
Afterwards, you should be able to do it in 20-30 minutes.
I`m not sure about the XLT`s because I have a Lariat but I think one might have to step up to the 302A to get the tailgate damper but don`t quote me on this.

Yes, i`ve also heard that the OEM kit can be found for less money if purchased separately.

Hope this helps.
I have an XLT 302A. Unfortunately, no tailgate damper. Must be Lariat and up.
