Default Factory Window Tint

I got my front windows tinted with Suntek CPX today and the installer told me that the back windows were just color tint to block light, but not heat like the CPX does. I looked for some information on Ford's website regarding the factory tint, but did not have any luck. I'm wondering if anyone here knows if there is any sort of "heat guard" or not or if the installer was blowing smoke.

The CPX does do a fantastic job of blocking heat, but it is hard to tell on the factory tint.

Thanks!

I heard the same thing, but I'm not positive. I think he's telling the truth

Well, lets just say he is correct in that its just to block the light. What can be done to block the heat?

Maybe pay to get an aftermarket tint put in it also, to block the heat. Seems ridiculous but that's what I see being the solution. Some people on here did that already...

Is there a clear tint that rejects heat> I put a heat shield on my windshield that I thought was going to be clear, but it does have a tint to it.

I haven't seen anything personally, but I did see an article about it, it's a 3M product and says clear but I don't know how light it is.

Does this also apply to the sunroof, no heat resistance that is?

Your installer was correct; the rear, rear sides and roof are colored glass so little thermal protection

I put a clear ceramic - llumar air 80 - on the colored glass and true ceramic on my front sides to match the rears

The clear blocks almost 45% of the heat. You can see 5% blocks 60% so a clear blocking 45% is pretty good

Thank you for this info. I am scheduled for tint on the front driver/passenger thursday for $140 , Now I will have them go all around for $280 to block as much heat as possible. A black on black truck is tough on 90+ degree days all summer.
