I didn't get any responses to my questions above, but went ahead and installed the Expnav2 anyway.
To answer my own questions and for anyone who searches this.....
Yes, the HDMI connection works even while driving down the road. You just have to enable it once in a hidden service menu.
Not sure if it is reliable yet since I only installed it 2 days ago.
Two days ago I didn't have Nav.
Now I have built in Nav and can mirror my cell phone video/audio, even while driving. You can input Nav instructions while driving too.
All of my factory Sync stuff is the same, the ExpNav2 just added to it.
I like my truck better than I did 2 days ago.
If you are mirroring Waze from your phone do you still get radio/satellite or do you lose factory audio?
When I first installed it, it didn't work right, but after updating the firmware it worked as you see on the youtube videos.
As for needing to install an additional antenna, yes it does come with a small gps antenna which was a simple install. While I had the screen out I mounted it under dash up towards the windshield. All it needs is a clear path to the sky. As long as it isn't under metal it works perfect hidden under the dash. I get nearly instant "High Accuracy" lock with 9-10 satellites (as reported by the NAV GPS screen).
I originally got this for the purpose of putting my cell phone on the screen while driving for Waze and things like that. However, the iGo Navigation is really very good and I have been using it instead.
Once installed you end up with these features:
(Important to me that all existing Sync stuff is just like it was before.)
1. Adds RCA Video/Audio inputs that can be used while driving.
2. Adds HDMI input Video/Audio that can be used while driving.
3. Adds built-in Navigation that is really good.
4. Adds some fairly useless OBD diagnostic stuff that I don't think you can modify.(not a Tourque App replacement)
5. Adds an additonal USB input, that also charges.
I registered with NaviExtras and was happy to see I can pull the latest/greatest Maps and Points of Interest updates for free. I updated all of that stuff today.
The Navigation input can be used while driving, but is not voice activated. The input is good though, with a keyboard that looks like an iPad keyboard. The possible matches show in a list as you type. You can close the keyboard and scroll/select the list at any time.
As someone mentioned, while using HDMI, it is both video and audio. Not sure if you can make it video only and stick with another audio source while displaying. Probably not, so that would get kind of boring if streaming Waze and not having your radio.
I really like it so far. I hated the Sync2 before adding Expnav2. Now I can do so much more with it.

Hope this helps.
Thanks, would you mind posting a video? The chinese dude had his stupid music full blast and it was annoying as hell, plus he never was able to get out of the "looking for satellites" or whatever error.
I am very curious to see how fast it responds in real life, and not seeing the built-in demo.
I tried mirroring Waze and changing audio to factory audio, definitely a no go.
Although, you can listen to the music on your phone while watching Waze on the screen and it announces turn-by-turn waze instructions.
Not sure I'll get motivated to do a video, but the iGo Nav built in is good. Doesn't have live traffic like Waze, but I will use iGo most of the time and Waze when I need live traffic.
The weakest link is the stinking Ford Touch screen. The resolution is like a 1980's computer. Things look ok on the screen, but we're all use to HD screens these days.

I;ll truly appreciate it. I really just care for the first 10 secs or so after turning it on, see how fast it comes up and the acquisition of satellites.
There are two features accessible via the EXPNav2 hidden menu.
1.Allow exiting the NAV screen by just touching the upper right corner of the map(instead of using the menu exit...minmize).
2.Allow HDMI/video viewing while driving/underway.
To access the hidden menu, go into Advent "settings" and press and hold just above the "p" in the word "update"
A number pad will then appear.
Enter 8888 for Nav exit via touching upper right.
Enter 9999 to allow HDMI while driving.
