I bought my headlights and harnesses from a member on this forum in which everything was new and still in original packaging. At first, headlights worked properly and I did like how the kit was plug and play and simple to install. However, it didn't take long before problems started to take place... I reached out to Dawson and I learned that they had two designs of connectors and that the earlier versions were known to have issues with corrosion because they weren't water tight. I informed him that I was not the original purchaser and he was quick to offer selling sides individually at 175.00 per harness but would not help me in any way with the known defective product.

I could be more understanding if my issues were because of negligence on my end in some way but I take it seriously when this becomes a safety concern that has potential in putting my family in danger . I have emailed him a few times after learning of many issues from people who are using his kits but have not gotten any response.

My issue is that his resistor clearly has his logo on it and it would be nice to know that a company will stand behind their product knowing it's not old because they haven't been released for a lengthy amount of time. My passenger side amber ring only works briefly when I lock and unlock the truck. My drivers side headlight on low beam works intermittently and I am nervous everytime it gets dark and find myself getting out to make sure both are working. Hearing all these troubles makes me upset as these harnesses should be in working order when received by the consumer, especially when they aren't cheap ! This situation with headlights could be really unsafe if not resolved ASAP and I'm asking for any help I can get.
That's unfortunate, it was something like this that pushed me away from RR. I've had excellent experience with TRS every time so I went with them. Also they warranty the harness for 3 years. I know guys having issues with TRS harness as well, they either sent them new ones and if any issues occurred again they got refunds for it. Mine has been going strong and no issues at all whatsoever.

Lets try to keep the Thread on topic. If you didnt buy Directly from Dawson, at RR. Why should he give you a Warranty, his site Plainly states. The Warranty on his products is Non Transferrable!

So if you did your Research, youd know buying RR products from someone other than RR, you Wont have any Warranty!

Th point of this Thread, is not to bash, or curse any vendor. But, to find what model truck, harness brand, what issues or non existant, and if you run drl, and use manual heads On or Auto.

Just saying,,, Back On Topic!

I would rather this NOT turn into a RR or TRS bashing thread. Please start your own if that's what you want. I'm just trying to see what truck people have, their issues if any and harness brand. I'm sure all of us that has/had issues were expecting the lights/harness to work. TRS sent me 3 harnesses where I had to move pins. I asked them to send one more where I didn't have to touch a thing. They elected not to, they suggested trying the RR harness and offered me a refund. I bought fog lights from TRS them and plan to buy from them again for my Explorer.

To me there may be a difference affecting the passenger side that the harness is not accounting for. So I was hoping that this thread could shed some light to help RR and TRS update their harness and get all us running w/o issues.

I can understand how some may take go-on3's post as bashing, i personally would use the word venting instead but regardless what you call it, he has a RR harness and he does have issues like many others.

Wayne, we all understand, and dont Blame Go On3 for being upset or what not. But when you dont buy directly from the Source (RR), you cant be upset, when your told you have No warranty.

Theres another Thread, where someone bought 1 month old RR oem led heads that were modified for a previous buyer by Dawson at RR. The buyer sold them to another member who contacted RR about honoring the warranty and Dawson did. But thats for another Thread, no this 1.

Please stay on Topic...

I think it would also help benefit those having issues if everyone also listed aproximate date bought and how long have they been installed. My harnesses are still in the box but reading all the issues...its a concern. Just a thought as it could also help determine if it is still on going or...

I apologize for letting my emotions take over. . For that, I'll edit my earlier response to keep this on topic... I am upset because these errors from certain vendors should have been caught such as wires in wrong pin location, wrong style connectors, etc. . I vented excessively because I paid good $ for a product like many others with high expectations after having great success with their Gen 12 products from the past. I learned a valuable lesson and should of bought from them directly .
