You would be surprised....
Power steps, massage and Pano roof are a priority over the engine in Soccer Mom Trucks. See it all the time in the South.

You can get an XLT pretty close to 12xx if you try hard enough. Someone just posted one without the Pano roof with 13xx Sticker.
Yikes.

My Supercrew Lariat 6.5 box V8 w/o roof, with liner, nanstep, big tank is I believe 1611 (can't verify right now, its back at dealer for a no-cost new windshield, found an edge chip up by the roof when I brought it home and washed it)

They could probably lengthen the cab, add reclining rear seats, shorten the box to 3.5 feet and still sell a ton of them. To each their own I say.

Ford already attempts that with the F250 / F350 and it doesn't work. A high trimmed F250 4x4 w/ 9900 GVWR derate and High Capacity Trailer Tow Package has an abysmal payload number. Yes, this is more of a paper (sticker) limitation but the trucks are still running well over GVWR at high loads.
I know some 2.7/3.3 trucks have a slightly thinner frame but I suspect anything under 7050 GVWR on the F150 is mostly a paper derate so they can run lighter in the test and help the CAFE Numbers. To be honest that may be the issue. Ford wants to sell as many of the "light trucks" as possible. That's why they restrict the "2.7 Payload Package" to 300A or less.

The F100 badge would possibly draw.attention to the lower GVWR and move some customers to the higher GVWR which would hurt CAFE numbers not only by weight but larger engine.

Guess I answered.my own question...

Now subtract 550 lb for the 6500 GVWR vs your 7050 GVWR and see what you get.

F100 WAS called the Ranger back in that day, though mini trucks like what most people know as the ranger didn’t exist in the lineup. I had one, a 1969. I miss it. Was a good truck.

I remember there used to be an F100/F150 Explorer as well, another trim level name eventually assigned to a different model.

Wasn't doubting the low numbers, just saying it isn't really a Lariat thing.

I haven’t nt seen a crew cab with LD frame in person yet. Our city’s fleet 3.3 crew cabs even have HD frames. Did Ford phase out the LD for crew cabs?

Our fleet regular cabs have LD though.
