Default External power source needed

5 weeks ago, my 2016 was stolen and burned beyond recognition. On May 23, I bought a new 2017 that was almost identical to my 16 except for color. A week later, some ****head tried to break my drivers window and knocked out the keylock. Neither worked. The front side windows are laminated just like a windshield and the punched out lock assembly simply fell apart. Just more headaches...

When I went to the body shop to get my door lock assembly repaired, I asked if they could replace the keyed latch assembly with one without a key lock.

Making a long story short, the Right/Rear latch assembly fits the drivers door. No lock assembly to punch out. Great !!

My question is ? What should I do for an external power inlet in case my battery dies ? Any ideas ? If this has been brought up before, my apologies in advance.

I would imagine something like this. Have the plug accessible from outside but you would need those specific jumper cables outside of the truck.

Wonder if you can backfeed power through the trailer connector, don't need high current just to get the truck unlocked... Guessing the flat connector won't work, but there should be a 12v constant in the circle connector I'm betting...

Sounds like a better solution would be to move to a better neighborhood...

Would it perhaps be easier to add an additional hood release lever, maybe hidden behind the front bumper?

I am. Selling my home now and moving to the Spokane area. Deer Park actually.

Bankrupt police departments from a bankrupt state doesn't help. DA's don't prosecute property crimes anymore. Now Commiefornia wants to do away with bail. They say it's not fair. I won't be around for that fiasco.

Thanks for the advice. Like I never thought of that. I was in the process of packing when this crap happened.

I was actually thinking of adding a positive, waterproof remote battery lug hidden in the fender well with a 30amp fuse. I could ground it anywhere. I just want enough to unlock the vehicle, not start it.

Get a pair of these
2 pin connectors 2 pin connectors
, fuse it and run it from the battery terminals to wherever you like. Use the other end to attach to battery clamps. It is unnoticeable and no one would think twice about it. A 10g wire should be plenty. You are not trying to start the truck with it, just unlock the door.
