ESP plans
Slightly off topic, I have Geico's breakdown insurance...
Only available when;
the car is bought new
the insurance is activated in the first 18 months of ownership
$200 deductible but,
The added cost to your policy is $15 every 6 months (nothing upfront)
Runs for 7 years 100k from new.
Repairs can be done almost anywhere.... even the dealer
Geico pays the repair shop the total of the repair less $200. Geico uses a credit card.
My brother had a rack & pinion replaced on his Pilot... works done at the dealer. Then he had suspension work done on his Ridgeline at a local shop... geico covered it..

Okay, I didn't see any add on for car rental. How does that work?
Thanks,
Mike Todd

I put on less than 7,500 miles a year.
I have been shopping these myself. My truck just passed the 200 mile mark today.
I'm curious if your truck gets totaled and you replace it with another, do they allow you to transfer any portion to the new vehicle or do you just eat it?

I will prob by my ESP from Flood when it gets closer to my manufacture warranty expires. The only thing I don't like is your truck is covered under the 3 yr 36,000 mile. But yet when you purchase your ESP the start date of the warranty is the date you purchased your truck. This is an extended warranty so to me it should take effect the day your 3/36 expires. Where you get a full 3 yr or whatever you purchase.

What's the catch? Does the $15/6mo balloon after the factory warranty expires? Anyone else have any experience with this?

So this is some interesting information being posted here.
I bought the Zeigler plan for $2300. 8 years and 125,000 miles. Just made the last monthly payment this month.
Reading about the Geico MBI insurance I went and reviewed my policy. I have the MBI for $19.00 a month. So I have double coverage. Well damn.
Now I need to contact Geico and see exactly how it compares to Zeigler. What do I give up in coverage by asking Zeigler for a refund?
Here is the synopsis of the Geico coverage taken from their website:
What is Mechanical Breakdown Insurance (MBI)?
Mechanical Breakdown Insurance covers many mechanical repairs to your car, protecting you from expensive repair bills. This coverage is only available for vehicles with less than 15,000 miles that have been purchased within the last 15 months. A $250 deductible per claim applies. Mechanical Breakdown Insurance is similar to a dealer's extended warranty protection. It's in excess of coverage provided by the manufacturer's warranty.
Mechanical Breakdown Insurance covers repairs to the following systems:
Engine Steering Air Conditioning Transmission Cooling Brakes Drive Axle Suspension Electrical
EXCLUSIONS: MBI does not include regular maintenance services such as tune-ups, suspension alignment, wheel balancing, filters, lubrication, coolant and fluids, spark plugs, brake pads and lining, brake shoes and tires (includes tire wear and/or tire damage). Breakdown repairs made necessary by intentional damage, rust and oxidation, misuse, or improper maintenance are not covered. Mechanical Breakdown coverage is in excess of coverage provided by the manufacturer's warranty.
$19.00
Deductible: $250
Covers auto repairs due to a mechanical failure.
