So I'm having the windshield replaced after a stone cracked it on my 2019 F-150 Lariat with Safelite Glass co. The Tech says there is code in Module A that states "C1001-97 Vision System Camera Component or System Operation Obstructed or Blocked"
He claims I need to see the dealer to have this corrected. I find it strange that he mentioned this before he even showed up on the phone call prior to his arrival.
What does this mean? Everything is working on the truck just fine with no warning lights on, ever.
Obstructed or blocked... did they put the proper glass in, where the camera can see out? I seem to remember that the lower trim trucks don't have the "window" for the camera to see out of.
The truck has the 360 camera, lane keeping system and front collision system as well as adaptive cruise control. There is a camera at the top of the windshield. Safelite did not replace the glass. It has been covered with mud, snow and other debris with a dash warning that the front camera was blocked. I cleaned it off many times.
I don't want to go to the dealer for this.
I spoke on two different occasions with two different Safelite technicians working on the side of the road installing windshields. After a little friendly chat I ask the question, was there an additional steps requirement for the newer F150 that have the lane control & self stopping options. The answer from both was yes. One explaining he had software that they use and the other did not speak about any software but explained you had to bring it in to their shop for programing. Sure would be interesting knowing the correct way it should be done. Even if you took it to a dealer, do they just sub the job out and who really has and actually uses the correct equipment? Not meant to insult anyone but maybe someone on the forum works with windshields and knows the real answer, not just an opinion. Thanks
The last three times I used Safelight (2014 Tundra, 2012 Camry, 2020 MDX) they really sucked. Glue that wouldn't come off the touchscreen, 2 installs that had major air leaks (whistling while driving), glass that was installed and car not driven that day then had a crack develop overnight. I'll never use them again. If it's not too late and you have glass coverage just go to the stealership.
The company replacing your windshield should recalibrate this. If they won't - or can't - you chose the wrong glass company. I've had Safelite replace multiple windshields in vehicles with these systems, sometimes coming to my work to do it -- and they've always recalibrated without issue.
