Default Engine Warm up

New 2017 2.7 Eco. Why does it take like 3 min for the engine to warm up. I mean its pinned at 1.5 RPM and then slowly goes down to under one.

Are you wondering if 3 minutes is too long for it to take to warm up or is 3 minutes quick? Your post needs some clarification.

I start my 16 2.7, put it in drive and go. The 1st mile of my work commute is 20 mph.. then 35...45. Out of my 3 mile, 7 minute commute it blows heat around 2 miles out.
So yeah takes awhile to warm up.

Mine will drop below 1000 rpm in a minute or less on a cold start.

@ 2015 , 3 min+ is long IMO, never had a vehicle that does that. My 05 was real quick and the ford Focus is real quick.

Basically is this normal for these ?

The truck won't blow warm air until the engine thermostat opens, so hot coolant can circulate through the heater core. Most fuel injected engines have a 195 degree (or higher),thermostat installed.

Yes it’s normal. Wait until you get a diesel and you drive it for 15 miles and it’s not warmed up yet.

Why do you know this? Start the truck turn on the seat and steering wheel heaters put it in D and drive.

What is the outside temperature?

Why don't you just get in it and drive it? It will warm up much quicker.

There is no reason to warm up your truck. Start, go.
