It doesn't turn off if you have the defroster turned on. It will turn off cold. With A/C I haven't figured it out yet. Sometimes it will turn off and keep running the A/C and sometimes it won't. I never did determine if it's a temp thing or something else in the summer that limits it.

Personally I like the feature most of the time. Luckily for those who don't, there are lots of hacks to permanently disable it
