I have a 2015 3.5l Ecoboost FX4 I just purchased used from the second owner. I did an oil change, and noticed there appeared to be a 'splash shield' missing, between the front bumper and cross member of the frame. I ordered the OEM Shield #FL3Z-8327-C as it appeared to be correct, but I can't find any correct holes that the pins would push into. Pics attached below.
Is there supposed to be a shield in this location, or am I heading down a path to no where? Seems like there should be to keep road gunk out of the pulleys and improve mpg a bit...
On my new 2020 3.5L-EB FX4 that area is wide open, no splash shield there. I know from reading elsewhere that the different engines have different splash shields particularly the EB vs. V8 because of airflow and presence/absence of turbos adjacent to the wheel wells.
That explains the three unused tabs with holes where the chin spoiler mounts on my 2015. Doesn't look like it would go past the radiator support. I think that area remains open to help pull air through the coolers at speed.
Can't say I need it, but would like to have all parts that should be present on my truck. Tasca says it should be on my '15 3.5 eco. Don't know if it was removed for work and not replaced, or never installed. PM me what you'd like for it.
Doing a little searching it appears that part was on 2.7L and 3.5L Ecoboost F-150's in 2015 and 2016 then dropped. Looks like it could be added to any F-150 from 2015-on but would need to check my 2020 to see if the same tabs/attachment points are there. I may consider adding it to keep winter crap out of the engine bay. Like so many things I'd guess Ford cut it for $$ savings.
Interesting. The three holes I've got are at the bottom of the steel bumper, top of the spoiler. The piece in the image is close to the top of the steel bumper.
my 18 had them my 19 doesn't. They were the same truck with exact same setup. One from Michigan one from Kansas. No reason they shouldn't be identical maybe they forgot? Maybe they changed there mind about putting them on and then changed again for the 20 model. Maybe they were just out of stock and decided to ship truck without them. If anyone has the answer I want to run some stock picks by you.
