Default Engine noise

Hi guys I bought my used truck about 6 months ago and recently noticed while backing in my garage (,vehicle at operating temp).that I heard a faint knock ,I took it to the dealer when I could hear a very very faint knock, I had the service manager and a tech ride with me neither said they could hear it,it's progressively getting louder I can't get into the dealership till next Monday,it's driving me insane ,has anyone else with a 2015 F-150 ,5.0 had this noise? It's got 22,000 miles on it

Did you notice the knock after reading on the internet that 2011-2012 5.0 engines could have a knock?

The knock was in the 2011-2012 engines and was caused by a defect in the casting of the engine block. Ford, since then, has corrected the problem and there is no knock. You maybe hearing valve train noise. That's the normal sounds of 32 valves and four cam shafts going about their business.

The knock with the 5.0L extended all the way up until 2015. My 2013 needed a block at 22,000 miles.

lol.

It seems its a "flaw" of that engine. Some use oil, some a LOT of oil. But most - just make the annoying noise and it never amounts to anything...

Admiral, I have a Engine noise that also sounds like a light knock. You can only hear it @ idle with the Hood open and the cooling fan cycled off..There is a Member that posted about his 5-16 Build 5.0 that turned out to be number #5 Cylinder w/ a defective Conn. Rod. Number 5 is front Driver side...He had his Engine replaced.

The local Dealer... Shop Foreman and long-time Tech listened to my Motor and they advised they hear it, but don't know what it is....covered under warranty. Not happy with that, I called Service Manager @ SVT dealer and set up appointment.

They performed relative compression test...No variation..all cylinders @ 240...They ( Service Manager and Shop Foreman) listened with Stethoscope and determined it is Injector noise.

They brought me in the Shop and had me listen thru the Scope...Shop Foreman had his
2017 5.0 next to mine w/ hood up..His was louder than mine....These Guys I believe...SM has been @ the same Dealer 40 years and Shop Foreman since 1985.... I too pulled wrenches at a Ford Dealer 69-71..... Get it checked, but as long as it idles/run smooth, you are probably good to go.
