Default Which engine to get

Surely this has been addressed a ton on here but I cannot find it. I was going to get a 3.5 eco-boost on a 2015 but since I will not need it for towing wonder if I would be better with a 2.7. Besides gas mileage what other concerns and issues are there? I will drive this into the ground so recital is not really a concern. Is gas mileage the biggest difference? Towing power is not really a big deal to me.

I went with the 2.7 after driving all of them (minus the base non turbo 3.5) I found the 2.7 to be the best performer. That with the promise of better mpg sold me.

Some will tell you that the Ecoboost are less reliable and to go with the 5.0, but it really just matters what you are trying to accomplish. Given what you stated I think the 2.7 would be a good choice for you.

I have owned three 3.5 Eco and when I got my 15 I went with the 2.7. I have not towed with it yet but all I yow is a Harley enclosed trailer but I like everything about it. Plenty of go fast available with great mpg. If you don't yow big loads then you will be very satisfied. I liked the 3.5 also but the mpg is nothing to brag about. Other than that a great motor. So far the 2.7 is my choice. Ford hit a home run on the baby Eco.

Read all the threads that discuss this in depth and it still comes down to what you want. Each has good and bad points. None seem to be seriously flawed. The 2.7 is too new to say much about. Flip a coin and enjoy!!!

The 2.7 is the newest but same technology as the 3.5 Eco. Obviously going with the smaller of the same type of engine offer less power. But with less power you use less fuel. The 2.7 is slower but it's not slow- still peppy. If you want to tune it or like to mod things, the 3.5 will be a better fit. If you keep it stock and are the type to be happy with the medium engine, you should love it.

Get the 6.2. Can't go wrong with that engine.

I went the 2.7L for 2 reasons. The mpg and it is the most technologically advanced motor available right now. Although it shares a lot with the 3.5 EB, out is not just a smaller version

It also depends on what trim level you want. The higher trim levels Lariat 502a and above cannot get the 2.7 - only the 5.0 or 3.5.

I went with the 3.5 eco after reading some of the threads and looking at the graphs where the torque is made in the rpm range.
When I drive it normally I rarely have to go above 2000 rpms and I am getting so far 19.3 mpg and climbing.
From what I have been reading the 2.7 is no slouch neither.
If towing is not a concern the 2.7 should do just fine.
Once you sift through the threads and figure out what is good information is and what is troll dribble, make the right decision for you.

True that, decide what you want in a truck and then go drive them and decide what motor you want.
