I first experienced an auto start/stop vehicle while working in England for a couple weeks. At first I was stopping with hard brake pedal force and the engine would always stop at an intersection. Of course it would restart with my foot letting up on the brake pedal as I was getting ready to go. I quickly found out with that rental car, as I was appling the brakes I would reduced the hard pressure on the brake pedal before the car came to a complete stop and the engine would stay running. Never shutting off.

I've had my 2016 for about a day now and tried the same stopping technique. I seems to work. Anyone else find that by controlling your foot pressure on the brake you can vary the auto start/ stop feature? Also if you have to stop hard fully, once stopped simply raise your foot slightly, reducing the pressure, which restarts the engine while waiting to go?

Yup, I kinda try to control the auto stop by varying the pressure on the brake pedal as well. Really only pay attention to it in stop and go traffic so that it is not shutting off so much but it is good being able to control it a little.

What does the t/s button twice do?
Just got a 2016 a week ago so I'm new to this. Thanks

Sport mode, you'll see an "S" sport mode icon at the lower part of the instrument display.

Try it, you'll like it.

If I hold the brake down for any longer than 2min with the auto stop engaged my truck does and all my dash lights flash, and my screen goes nuts....

I turn mine off every time I think of it! I hate the feature! I've never had mine stall where I had to restart it but it has stalled enough it's almost got me hit a couple of times. It doesn't make any difference in my mileage either! I've checked it several time and I do better with it off!

I used the disable Stop/Start button for the first two weeks then I permanently disabled it. Most annoying feature in stop and go traffic.

I don't like it either. I wish it could be disable in forscan.

When the engine cuts back on I notice my headlights dim and then go back to normal. I feel this feature might not be great for the battery.

That's another reason why I couldn't consider the 2.7L, besides it low tow rating and payload. Seems like Ford should soon be forced to remove this dangerous, forced feature.
