Which engine
Well, in my case I had the 5.9L Magnum in my 99 Dodge Ram which rates at 245 HP @3500 rpm. I now have a 16 F150 w/ 3.5L EB which rates at 365 HP @4500 rpm. The 3.5 has got gaboons more power. There are 3 Transmission modes....standard, Towing, and Sport. Personally, just driving around my small town, I have started just driving around in Sport mode. Only switching to standard whenever I'm on open highway. But in all seriousness, there is simply no need for the big V8s anymore. The smaller engines with Turbo boost is all you need. I can get up to 90 mph in nothing flat. My old Magnum would take all day to do that.
The beauty of the different engines is the ability to match the right one for your needs or wants.
Whether it's gas mileage you're concerned with, brute power or just want the sound of a V8, you have all the options available to you.
Good luck and enjoy.

Well the 2.7 is the least expenaive and gets best mpg and is as fast as the other 2 engines. Now towing heavy id say 3.5 hands down. I dont miss the last two 3.5s i had with my new 2.7. Mpg is 21.x over the 9k miles ive had it, including 1k milesnof light towing 2-3k lbs in open trailer. My 3.5 had 16.5-18 mpg over their life.
I had a 2013 3.5TT (twin turbo) and got another 3.5TT 2016. I drove the 2.7 and wasn't a fan. I did like the V8 though, could have done that but the turbo trucks are nice and quiet.
Here are what I found, and this is opinion based...no hard feelings for the 2.7 drivers out there:
1. Drive a 3.5TT in "S" (sport) mode, it's amazing. You might feel the torque difference better this way.
1A. My area is very hilly, and I'm routinely at 4000-8000' altitude with a loaded bed on weekends.
2. 3.5TT has an actual parking brake, internal drum mechanical, this is a true "emergency brake" in place of the electronic actuated calipers of the 2.7
3. Start stop was annoying, and with it disabled by jumping the wire (see other threads), MPG's are about the same.
4. Gas is seemingly stable below $3/gallon and I drive about 12K/yr, so hey, only 1mpg difference isn't a big financial hit

I have over 17k miles on my 2.7 which has among other things an MBRP exhaust and 275/70/R18 AT tires w/o level. Zero problems! Mpg w/stock sized tires was 21-22 mpg combined city/hwy. with larger tires 20-21 mpg.
As others have said all three engines are quite solid so drive all of them, form your own preference and get one. I love my 2.7Eb and know I made the right choice for me.
I do not get involved with all engine choice snobbery I see on the forum as it just folks who want to believe their decision was the best decision.

The answer is............
Take all 4 for a drive and see which one puts the biggest smile on your face. Then figure out what you will be doing with it, some possibilities below.
They are all fantastic, each has something different to offer. (sound, torque, low end, top end, payload, towing capability, fuel economy, platform for supercharging, tuning capabilities, quiet vs rumble....I could go on, you get the idea)
There is no wrong choice here.....and on the outside they all look so BADASS!
