Which engine...??
Going to get rid of a few vehicles and downsize my fleet as there is only one person left to drive anything in my house anymore.
So far these 2 models peak my interest:
2015 F150 XLT XTR 4x4 SCrew. one has the 5.0, and the other has the 3.5 V6.
I am literally wanting to lease a new truck as a commuter and don't care about anything in the way of novelties. My main concern is that I don't feel like it's missing something...
Here's what I know. Drove them both. LOVE the 5.0L. Impressed by the 3.5 n/a engine. There's a difference of about $85/month to take the 5.0, vs the 3.5 (Current deal in Canada is 350/month on a 2yr 0 down for the 300A package.). This price also included a trailer hitch and a backup cam. I am keeping one of my old trucks a 7.3 Dually so towing isn't a vital necessity, but I would like to have the option.
What are people seeing for real world mileage on these two? As it is replacing a couple of economy vehicles I can't justify poor mileage for better passing power.....
Has anyone towed anything with the 3.5? How does it present itself with a load?

I have a 3.5 n/a... it's in a 2wd super cab with 3.55 gears. I tow a small bass boat 2-3 days a week and I see over 20mpg with it behind the truck.
My overall average is 22.4 mpg right now with 2,300 miles on the truck.
This is my daily driver and I have a lead foot... my commute is 23 miles across a major metropolitan area.

If you are concern with fuel consumption, my experience with a 2012 ecoboost and now a 5.0 with very similar setup is that both are about equal; while towing or not. The eco has better low-end torque and is a little quieter and overall I think they are both good motors. I would save the 85$ per month. My two cents.
Either way you can't go wrong. Im from Canada too and took the lease option. Its a great deal. I went with the 5.0l because I need the Pre Plow package and the 3.5TT can't be used because of the air restriction on the front end with the plow on. Its all about what your needs are for the truck.
When it come down to it, in your case ...its all about dollars and cents. So I would go with the 5.0L. You have another truck to tow...so you don't need a 3.5TT. and with the added cost to premium fuel that you should use (recommended not forced) because its a turbo you will end up paying more than your $85/m.
MPG are all most identical so fuel consumption should not be a factor.
The great thing about leasing is...if you don't like it or your needs change...you can always hand the keys back in 2 years.
Good luck my fellow Canuck

I am a commuter also and chose the 2.7L Eco boost. If you are not towing anything, this is the engine to go with. I am very impressed with it. I bought the Lariat 4X4 Screw. Also, when I test drove a few trucks (3.5L EB and 2.7L EB) they both were equipped with the FX4. I wondered why my truck rode better. Well, I didn't go with the FX4 and now I know that the suspension is stiffer, thus resulting in a rougher ride. If you are not going to go off roading, forgo the FX4 package. I really wonder if most who chose this really need it.
Back to the 2.7L...really powerful engine, and if you live in high elevations you don't lose power like you do with conventional engines. And the 2.7L EB definitely is much more powerful than the conventional 3.5L non EB. Just give it a test drive.
