Your factory HID's are better then if someone tried to put HID in a halogen housing, since HID doesn't offer much in the way of adjustability in the beam pattern. However the LED's are not too expensive and would be an improvement I think. I'm not sure what the lumens are on the factory HID systems, but I heard some people are not too happy with them.

You could always try them out and if you like them, awesome. If they don't work you'd have no problem selling them. I'm sure they'd be a big improvement though.

That's like asking someone with a plasma that works, if they should upgrade to LED. Sure there are some benefits, but are the added benefits worth the price?
How big a hassle would it be to change not considering price?

I believe within 1-2 years every manufacturer will have LED as an upgrade option. Within 5-7 years it will be standard on all vehicles.
I would even say that 5-7 standard would be more like 3-5. I think the upgrade opinion is spot on, and don't really see why they wouldn't otherwise.

You have OEM quality HID bulbs, projectors, ballasts, and wiring already. These are all designed to work with one another seamlessly. Your current setup already blows away any aftermarket LED setup in terms of usable, safe light.

The LED "upgrade" bulbs on the market right now are not ideal for either projectors or reflectors at this point. Halogen and HID bulbs emit light in a full 360 degree field whereas LEDs can't. The reflector and projector setups are designed for the 360 degree light. Putting an LED bulb with just 1-2 diodes shooting light in specific directions in these setups is generally going to result in a poor light pattern with a poor cutoff, not to mention hotspots and dark spots.

The only upgrade for an OEM HID setup would be upgrading HID bulbs or upgrading projectors.

LED CAN be better than HID. But it isn't right now, certainly the OEM ford stuff isn't. Be super happy you have HID's and spend the money on something helpful. You will be disappointed if you switch.

Weird, I got flamed for saying LED will replace all other headlight types on another thread... Hrmmm, where are those keyboard warriors on this one???

I fully agree until another tech comes out!
