Default Electrical fire inside cab!

Went to pull out the driveway this afternoon and noticed a crackling sound coming from the passenger side of the center console, looked over and saw smoke, shut the truck off. Went to the passenger side and turned the truck back on to ID the source and saw it along with a flame the size of what a Bic lighter would produce. It's located just under the center console next to the passenger seat. 2017 F150 3.5L ecoboost SuperCrew 4x4. Can anyone identify this wire assembly please?!!

Thanks in advance,

Ray

I believe what you are looking at is connector C3133. It has circuits for:
  • Ambient Lighting
  • Auto Park/Lane Departure Warning Switch
  • Interior Lamp power
  • AC Outlet LED Indicator
  • AC Outlet
  • 12 VDC Power Points
  • PATS Center Antenna
  • Rear Heated Seat Module power
  • Rear Heated Seat Indicators

that's a great start thank you, now I just need to figure out what would be causing it to heat up this way.

Pull the connector apart (if you can) and check the terminals. There is likely one that was damaged or not seated fulling in the connector housing. I'm thinking you will find something melted.

I spent about 50 mins, 32 curse words and a half gallon of sweat trying to do just that earlier. It in an awkward position and seems pretty satisfied not coming apart haha

If it got hot enough, which it probably did with flames appearing, then it is probably melted together and only cutting it out and replacing both halves of the connector will fix it. To get good access you will probably have to pull the center console and/or the passenger seat.

Scary! So fortunate that you could find the source!

I thought the same thing, really lucky its an exposed component and didn't ignite the carpet or cause any additional damage to my baby.

I would have it towed immediately to dealer I wouldn't drive it anymore risking it to actually catch fire
