Lightbulb dome lights

I'm wanting to install LED lights to shine on the floor and turn on when the doors open. Does anyone know what wire and where I can tap into to make this happen on an F150 2016 XLT? Thank you!

I'd go to the overhead LED wires so they would work in sync with them, like remaining off when you don't want them, and being able to turn them on with the doors closed. Tap the wire to drive the lowest power consumption relay you can find that can handle the current your footwell LED's will draw. Digikey

The lack of interior lighting has always bothered me about my truck and is something I've always intended to address. I hope that you will follow up in this thread with your solutions. What my intentions are is to bring switched power from the overhead light by the mirror to a few strategically placed LED's. I have yet to determine what size LED's I will be using or the locations to put them in. I'm hoping that I can run an additional 4 lights without worry of overloading the stock switch or wiring.

I would like to tap in to the fuse box or something under the dash that way I don’t have to take the side panels off and the headliner if possible. I was hoping that there was a wire under the dash I could tap into. If anyone knows please let me know thank you

The fuse box only provides mains power for circuits, it will not have anything that has gone through a switch or door pin running through it.

I looked at a few wiring diagrams this morning. All interior lighting comes from the BCM and none is fuse protected except for the 40a fuse that provides the power to the BCM. The good news is that the BCM is able to supply enough power to the upper trim/lighting levels so those of us with the simple single dome light above the mirror should have enough to spare for a few more led’s without harm.

If I tap into that would it turn the LED lights on and off when the doors open like the overhead dome? Thanks.

That’s the end goal. Do you have a single overhead light?

I have a 2016 XTL super cab it has two small dome lights upfront and then on each backseat door.
