Default Does this exist?

The brake actuator on my new boat trailer is so high that I can't drop my tailgate without hitting it. I saw the Gate King product. I'm not sure if it limits travel on the way down, but regardless it is way more than I'd like to spend.
I was hoping to find a 2 position tailgate cable, but I don't think it exists.
My other thought was to replace the upper latch bolt with the same bolt used to attach the cable. If I flip the cable over, I can attach it to the normal mounting point to fully drop the gate, or I could try the upper bolt to limit the gate drop 5 inches. I'm not positive if it would be that easy though.
Thoughts?

I'd like to see if the OP actually receives his order. List price on that is $228. The autoplicity price seems too good to be true. I'm also not sure if you can set it to limit the down travel every opening cycle. I'm trying to make this as fool proof as possible.

As easy as the OEM tailgate chains are to remove, I would think that for $30 or so, you could make a set of short ones that you could put on there when messing with the boat.

After watching the video, it looks like the gate King is designed to go fully down then ratchet up to position. It won't do what I want it to.

I bought truck stuff from autoplicity in the past. I had no issues. My 60 inch putco blade is from them and at the time it was $100 cheaper than anywhere else. Good luck!

Will a drop hitch throw the trailer too far out of level?

My ball mount has the ability to be adjusted, but a trailer this size has to be level. I'd have to drop the ball at least 3".

Not available for a 2018-20 XLT, according to Autoplicity...Checking the Gate King website, says that SKU# 231518 is the one for 2018-2020 F150-F250. Found it in the list (search function is apparently not functioning properly) for $80.26. That's a helluva discount off the MSRP of $228!
