Do check engine lights also display a code or anything
Long story short, they said they could not perform tests on the PCM, then asked if I had a "programmer." I had made several changes using Forscan. I am reverting back to stock and taking the truck back to the dealer to see if they can now access the PCM and such. they claimed that they could not perform tests and so on. I am trying to figure out if it's them, the Forscan changes or just the truck has an issue. So I am fact checking everything they told me.
One of there service desk people told me that plastic parts can't be painted to match metal parts. I know that one is BS.
Yep, FORScan doesn't mess with the ECU at all; that's why it can't disable start/stop only (and it disables BMS instead, which in turn disables ***). Anyway, my guess is dealers wouldn't notice you changed anything unless techs are super savvy and know exactly which features are on your trim, and notice things like numbers above the gauges, heated/cooled seats on the screen, etc. But the beauty of FORScan is all it activates features other FoMoCo vehicles already have, or other trims, so it's really hard for them to even notice a difference. I wouldn't even bother resetting anything, but to each his own.

When they asked if you had a programmer I'm sure they're referring to a custom tune on the truck preventing them from communicating with the PCM instead of anything you may have done with FORScan. Some custom tunes re-write the VID block and could cause this issue. If you didn't ever load a custom tune on it, did you buy this truck used where the previous owner may have done it? I guarantee you that anything you did with FORScan is not what's preventing them from reading your truck with their VCM2 (diagnostic adapter) & IDS (the software they use in conjunctiion with the VCM2).
I reloaded all the as-builts twice but I have a question, I can pull up the PCM module, copy it and reload it. I copied the PCM as-built and I reloaded it. I do not receive an error. Is that normal? If it can't write to it then wouldn't it say that? All the other modules would say "no changes, do you wish to write the values anyway?" when I would attempt to write an as-built to a module that was never modified. The other odd thing that happened while using Forscan and making changes to ACM was I fried a USB flash drive filled with MP3s. When the stereo reset and went to AM the USB got hot. I noticed that it got hot because I was getting massive USB device errors on the stereo. They would not stop even after I removed the device. I had to revert back to as-builts to get it to stop. Finally when I wisened up, I removed all USB devices when I made changes to the ACM.
I'm taking it back to see if they still have issues. If they do then it's the truck or them. The dealer has 3 stars on Yelp. I have not had a great experience with them from the minute I bought the truck. I may take it to another dealer from now on. That day I spent 5 hours there. It was almost 3 hours for them to roll it in. They told me that they'd be done in 1-2 hours. The truck that I went there to buy, was MIA when I got there. I think I saw it that day out back, wrecked. Still had the sticker on the window. I wonder how they'll sell that?
