Default Deployment Time...

So looking at deploying soon, but this time the F-150 is not staying with family and possibly going into a storage unit.

So question for the group, what do yall recommend for around a 9 month storage for the F-150? Looking at a trickle charger/ battery monitor but what else does everyone recommend.

Thanks!
Matt

I put my old 70's hot rod on frame stands when it goes into storage for the winter. Takes weight stress of the big block and T400 off the springs and tires.

Make sure you put fuel stabilizer in your gas tank! Sucking sludge into a fuel injection system is nothing short of a disaster.

I parked mine for 5 months once and 4 months another time...just pulled it out last Monday. Didn’t do a damn thing. Filled the tank up with non-ethanol gas, locked it and walked away. Zero issues.

For peace of mind, I'd put stabil in the fuel and connect the trickle charger. If you're concerned about the tires, you can always put nitrogen in them but i wouldn't bother especially if they're good shape now. Good luck and stay safe. Thank you for your service and sacrifice.

Up here we have to store things for long periods of time due to seasons changing (sleds, cars, boats, etc,) I would put stabilizer in the fuel, run it for a bit and make sure your tank is full - this prevents condensation from forming in the tank. Non-Ethanol fuel would work best but I have never really had an issue. I like to change the oil on stuff before I store it. A battery tender is a great idea. I have about ten Battery Tender Jr.s I use for different things. They are great and quite cheap. You could block it up but I honestly would not worry about it. Clean would be good to get crap off the paint and also a dust cover. If you are storing it where you might have rodents, put some steel wool in the intake and the exhaust. Dryer sheets also work well inside and in the engine bay as they tend to not like the smell. Rubber snakes from the discount store lying around on the floor where it is stored I have also found to be helpful.

I imagine you are one of our neighbors to the south. Regardless, I appreciate someone willing to put themselves in harm's way to serve their country. Stay safe!

Thank yall so much for all the help and I will definitely add stab in the fuel tank. Im fortunate enough to have a fully inside location to store it so I’ll have to most likely take you up
on the rodent ideas!

Next question for everyone is what battery tenders do yall find work the best for a 2017 V8?

also I greatly appreciate the well wishes!

Thanks,
Matt

Give it a good cleaning (inside & out), change the oil and fill the tank to the brim. That's all I'd do.

For myGT500 I would fill the tank put a battery tender on. Clean it inside and out. Cover exhaust with socks steel wool. I leave the windows cracked open a bit and cover her up. When I took it out of storage. I would run it until warm then change the oil. Baby the first tank of gas and half the second tank.

Stay safe

Most of the snow birds here in Florida will put the car on jack stands, either use a truckle charger, or disconnect the battery, put some Stabil in the tank, and put on a car cover, or store it in a garage.

WHen I deployed I stored my truck in a garage, and put stuff in the tank. Had my Mom drive the truck once every couple of weeks.

In case you don't know, a snow bird is an old retired person that lives in FL during our "winter", and up north (NY, Canada, etc) during the summer.
