Default Question... and comments

At the risk of looking like I didn't read the instructions completely...

What are these things?

P.S. - this system is awesome. The construction is just top-notch. I'm really impressed.

I would like to see some more options for accessory mounting. I still have my bike rack (link) installed, and it still works fine as Decked doesn't interfere with the BoxLink cleats. But it'd be nice to get rid of it and free up that area. I know the T-tracks are meant to allow Thule or Yakima bars, on which you can then mount stuff; I even have a bunch of leftover Thule stuff I could use. But having fore-to-aft tracks, then bars, then more fore-to-aft stuff is like mechanical Jenga. Complicated. Not likely to fail, but still more parts than are necessary. I guess I'd rather see some lateral tracks that mimic the cross bars, onto which I could directly mount my accessories. Example: I have a Thule Big Mouth bike carrier, and the square-headed studs in this photo slide straight into the lateral roof bar. I wish I could slide them right into a rail mounted on my deck. Maybe there are too many configurations to account for. I don't really know what's out there.

Another thought was to mount my bike fork mounts (like these) straight onto the Decked deck... but I'd probably want some kind of quick disconnects so I could pull them off when I want and leave the deck flat. I'll be thinking about how I might do that.

These are all personal wants that would just add some functionality to this awesome system for me. Decked does everything I've expected it to in the short time I've had it.

Hey DeltaNu, them thar things there are shims for your F150 bed! You ABSOLUTELY want to put them in your bed as they will keep your aluminum bed from deforming. In the instructions there should be a guide as to where they go. But for your ease of edu-ma-cation I have placed them here for you as well. See below.

So stoked to here you are pleased with the product and customer service! We are very focused on taking good care of our customers and making sure you guys are happy with your purchase.

As for your bike mounting options, we have seen a few ideas and it all depends on whether or not you are a guy who wants to take off your front wheel. If you found a rail which could be bolted to the deck's lateral steel tube that adapted to your fork mount you would be in business. We have seen this done in some van upfits from Outside Van, and will have a look to see if we can find parts to suggest.

Ah HAH... wow, yep, I missed that instruction completely. I assume these will adhere to a Line-X surface OK?

This week will be a good time to tackle this, as I received the replacement deck half today.

I currently remove my front wheel to mount my bike to my home-fabbed bike mount. I'd be interested in any hardware suggestions. Thanks for the info!

Yep, that's exactly the program and yes it will definitely adhere to Line-X no prob.

As for bikes, we will do a bit of digging and see what we can come up with.

I just called & talked to Margo - I don't know whether you can tell by my photos, but there was no adhesive tape included. I used some 3M double-sided foam tape because I wanted to be done with this install... and Margo told me that's what you guys use, so I'm good. I finally feel like I can install the ruler.

Here are some in-process photos:

Wow DeltaNu, you have definitely been slightly neglected by the adhesive fairies. Glad you go you on track

Would love a DECKED system for my truck up in Canada. Would love to see if it could hold up to the Canadian winter!

Some day I'll save up enough to be able to buy one of the Decked systems. Thanks guys for all your input, it has been fun to read all the pros and cons on these things. Just wish the cost wasn't so much for them. But understand seeing as how you all say how well they are made. Just wanted to chime in and thank you all for your input for us out here to read about your experiences!

One of the first things I bought for my 2015 Screw 6.5 bed length was the Decked Storage system . Recently I bought 2 d-boxes to better utilize the space that is not easily accessed when the drawer is opened . The d-boxes are a great addition , in fact so much so : I bought 2 more boxes . For a total of four , I now carry all my emergency gear , tow straps and basic tools . What a great improvement in organizing and access . I highly recommend that if you have a decked Storage system invest In a d-box and see for yourself how great the drawers and box complement each other
