DECKED Storage System for the 2015/16 F-150...Jcat's experience

Huh... I like that Perko solution. Maybe @Decked will be able to say whether that would work with the ammo cans. I'm not really sure there's room or an appropriate spot for those, but they look like a slick fix. Until I get mine received and installed, I won't know. I also don't see pricing for those.
EDIT: looks like $30-$35 each. One each for four ammo cans. Deal breaker: they won't be keyed alike.
I'm leaving toward a BedRug fastened with adhesive snaps. I think I'd like to a have a rug there anyway.

I have the Bak Revolver X2. My last truck had an ARE hard tonneau, and I loved it - but gotta say the X2 is better. So much more convenient to be able to roll it up to haul taller things.
But for me a tonneau is to keep the bed dry and (somewhat) secure. With groceries, luggage, lumber, mulch, etc - Its nice to know if I am hauling on a rainy day that the tonneau will make sure the stuff in my bed isnt soaked. And with the X2 - someone with a knife can't just cut the tonneau and grab whatever they want.
I am still considering the Decked system. I've got the undercover swing boxes - but Ive got a few things I keep in the bed that are too big for these swing boxes. Would love to see some pics of these on the new F150s....seems like alot of folks that got them thru the giveaway here just disappeared. Jcat is the only one we have heard from. Seeing some more pics of them in the bed, with drawers extended, how much space is available between the decked box and the tonneau, etc. would be awesome!

DeltaNu,
Hey we can assure you that leaving your DECKED system exposed to the elements is not going to harm it. DECKED is made with HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) which is like the **** roach of plastics. Moisture, UV, hot/cold etc will not degrade the plastics at least at a rate which will be seen in your lifetime.
While we can't say that no one will mess with your system security, we do know anectdotally that the hidden out of sight nature makes DECKED pretty much out of sight out of mind. To break into it one would need to know how it's put together and have a sawz-all and some time to cut through the steel tubes. If your tailgate is locked you are probably pretty secure.

@DeltaNu1142 - Just a thought if you go w/ the 'BedRug'. You can buy marine carpet (basically the same stuff) in 8.5' widths for about $10-12/ft at boating stores (there may be one in FL). If you're going to cut it up, no sense in buying the pre-fitted Bedrug.
@Decked - Just my $.02 on the product (not an owner) as a homeowner / deskjocky similar to jcat: I really like the product, and think it's cool, but have no use for it. I keep a few odds and ends in a storage bin bungee'd to the front of the bed under my X2 cover and that works for me. The drawers would be very conveinient, but for the price, and the extra weight in the truck that the Decked system brings with it, it's not for me. However, I can see a handyman / contractor using it constantly, either alone or with a cover on it (so they can carry a few sheets of plywood / drywall on top under the cover), keeping thier tools in the drawers. For more serious work, a cap or truck boxes can also be added, allowing them to carry larger items like compressors, work tables, etc... I can also see it being useful for active sprortsmen that would keep things like rifles in the drawers (as shown on your site), though I'm a bit skeptical as to whether it is practical to get an ATV loaded that high (in your video on your site - are there some type of ramp 'extensions' being used between the tailgate and the edge of the Decked, or do the ramps just clear the lowered tailgate?).
Will keep an eye on your product, though - maybe one day my needs may change. Good luck!

I understand. I'm much less worried about the drawers than I am the ammo cans. I'm sure it'll be fine. I'll have a look when it arrives later today...!!!

I was disappointed yesterday when I started the assembly of my Decked system and found this:
The front of the driver side deck half has a big crack in it. The shipping box doesn't look to have any damage (at least, not on the corners), so I'm not sure how this happened, but it means I won't be able to test out the system tomorrow when I go on a trail run with some friends and their trucks. I was counting on having it installed by today.
As soon as I saw this, I sent an email to Decked support with the photo. I hear great things about Decked's customer support, and my ordering experience was good, so I'm counting on this getting resolved quickly.

Here's the box. Clearly, a fork went through the bottom at some point, but I don't see any evidence of damage from that.

This is a totally bummer and definitely looks like in transport the freight company mishandled the package. The good news is we can fix you up quickly with a new deck and whatever else you need.
Call us here at 208-806-0251 immediately and we will get you new parts coming ASAP!
Really sorry it derailed your party plans for a trail run this weekend. Hopefully you were able to make it still work somehow.

I've had the Decked system in my truck since day 1. I love it BUT I have to run a canopy and have come to the conclusion that I can no longer sacrifice the overhead room. My system will be going up for sale!

Hi Greg - thank you. Throughout the ordering and now the service process, Margo has been really helpful. She suggested that I go ahead and install the deck anyway just to be able to give it a try. I was reluctant just because I didn't want to have to pull it all back apart when I receive the replacement deck half... but it's really not that big a job, so I put it in today. It's a nice piece of equipment. I'm looking forward to installing the ruler and calling it done.
