Default Decision Coming

8 more lease payments on my 17 XLT and ford contacts me everyday about mileage overages and getting out of my lease early. They must not realize I have a 36 month 54000 mile lease. I currently have 43000 miles. All told the truck has been flawless without one problem. Even on an 8 day 2900 mile road trip to Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and South Dakota last summer! My buyout at the end is 28500.00 and I almost feel I should buy it. I’m not going to lease again as I plan on retiring in 5 or 6 years and want to own a truck when that time comes. If I purchase a new one after the lease there’s no guarantee I’ll get another truck built this well! In 2017 this XLT had every possible option, pan-o-roof,3.55 locking rear end 4x4, tailgate step, spray liner, 20 inch wheels and tires etc. and I love the 2.7! Pulls our horse around fine and anything else I need to tow. As the TV show says. What would you do?

If you like this truck, keep it.

Have you figured out what you have paid on the lease part, then add it to the payout to see what the truck actually cost you?

Usually when you lease with zero down when all is said and done you come pretty close to paying sticker!!

You've already taken the depreciation hit. If you're happy with the truck, keep it.

You like the truck, the buyout price is fair, and a new truck will cost you in depreciation. Buy it.

By the end of your lease, should be more info on the new '21 model. Might be worth waiting on.

Also, FYI, lease mileage is pro-rated.....meaning you can't turn it in 6 months early with 53K, and not expect over-mileage fees. It's based on a weekly average through the term.
