2016 Sync (USB) Soft Close Lid
The other day I went to open my usb lid, the one in front of the shifter and it now does not close on its own. When I push it back it gets stuck. Then I have to drag it forward to close it. It’s driving me crazy! I can’t find the part online nor a YouTube video on how to correct this issue. Someone help!
I think it came off the latch. That’s the issue. Looking for someone that knows how to fix it because I have no clue and can’t find anything online
The WSM is not very clear but the following may help. I have not done this yet so be careful and proceed at your own risk.
Remove the trim panel by:
1. Open console bin cover.
2. Remove the trim panel by lifting up and then back.
This may expose the screws that hold the media bin cover in place, it may not (but the picture makes it look that way).
If not, you have to remove the next piece, the shifter boot panel.
There are 2 screws that need to be removed (as shown) from the narrow bin (under the mat). Then you just lift it up.
Hopefully that gives you access to the screws and you can remove the cover. Hopefully you can see whats wrong and fix it. If not, I believe the part is shown below, and boy is it costly.
