I have a BlackVue but it’s overkill. I don’t need to actually read a license plate or count wrinkles on a guys face, I just want one in case I get in an accident and need to prove it’s not my fault.

i wired mine to an add a fuse on a ACC fuse, it records when the battery is on and turns off when the trucks off,

depending on your rear view mirror, they make a inline harness to power them as well.

good post, I bought a VAVA dash cam a few years ago and I'm not really happy with it. It seems most dash cams record in small intervals (mine is set to 3 minutes) but it doesn't seem like it is recording continuously. it will record for a few minutes, then stop for 20 minutes, then record some more...I can't figure out if it is something I am doing wrong ir just the way it is but I want something easier to use.

Amazon - Currently $118.99 - I've had this model in three different vehicles.

I’ve got BlackVue in 4k, overkill? Sure, better than the alternative.
There’s a lot of good cost effective options out there, a decent dual setup can be had for under $150.

Rexing M3 in my truck. Replaced the rear view mirror. 3 cameras on the M3 dash, rearview, interior steerable. I like it records to a chip, turns on when the battery is on, all 3 record. Mounted the rear view camera in the cab so it can show the bed when driving or over the tailgate, interior camera rotates near 360, dash cam ha some limited side to side, up and down. Hard wired to the fusepanel with a Rexing hard wire kit. Running a 256gb micro chip in it set to split into continuous 1 minute clips that loop, and get about 36 hours of continuous recording on all 3 cameras before it loops over. Quite happy with it. KM

I got a Garmin Dash Cam Mini. I didn't want some giant thing hanging off the windshield. The Garmin is completely out of sight behind the rear view mirror.

I used a Dongar mirror power adapter to get power for the camera. It works great and made it a simple plug and play solution.

I have the Viofo A229 hard wired with a second, rear facing camera. First one I had screen failure, Viofo replaced it no questions under warranty.

this guy does some great reviews of dash cams etc.

If you happen to have an Escort radar detector, they make one that ties into it. Got it for simplicities sake. Downside is you have to put the memory card into a computer to view videos.
