Just a hassle to always unplug the USB every time you get out of the truck if it's not necessary.
I just unplug mine from the phone, not the truck itself. Havent had any battery issues since July.

Disclaimer
I never liked voice control in any of my vehicles since its so buggy.
Yeah all my other vehicles sucked for the voice control but the sync voice controls worked great. And very snappy too...but not anymore. And I was just referring to some other bugs people are talking about here. So far the voice control is the only one that I have come across but its' still early..... :-) The carplay GUI looks nice but I still prefer the Sync interface.

Does it matter what brand or kind of USB you use to put the sync 3 v2.2 files on your truck? can the cheapest 4gb USB work?

Since mine is non-nav I used some old 2GB and 1GB USBs. The non-nav is split into 2 files. Going with 2 saved time in-between insertions.

Ok, So I feel like a Moron.

So, I have a
- 2016 F150 LARRIAT
- Galaxy note 5
- Sync3 v 2.2 installed
- Android Auto installed on the phone.
- Android Auto preferences set to I (vs 0)

On the mobile Apps, I see Spotify BUT NOTHING else.

so what am I missing? how do I get Google maps to show up on the UI?

I am sure its something stupid, but man its eluding me.

Do you see Android Auto at the bottom of the screen where your maps/phone/audio quick buttons are? When Android Auto is connected (note that the phone must be connected to a USB cable to the USB port under the infotainment screen) there is an icon like two upside down V's that is displayed which is the Android Auto quick launch. If you do not see that and you are connected with a USB cable try a different USB cable or you may have you phone set to charge only when connected to the USB cable and the truck. if it is when its connected to the cable pull down from the top of the phone like you are getting into settings, and you will see USB connection options. you'll want to allow this to be able to read media/photos. I think its the top option under USB options. I hope this helps.

You should have a new button on the display that says Android Auto. If not, is your phone plugged in to one of the usb ports inside the sliding tray? It has to be plugged in to work.

May I ask, exactly which minimum version of Android the phone should be running ? I have exact same issue and Phone is plugged in to newly replaced USB port . My apple seem to work fine. I only see pandora and no AA. However I do have an icon for AA settings , which I think gets created as part of 2.2 upgrade from 1.0
