I appreciate all the work that it takes to get these SYNC builds packaged, posted, hosted and mirrored and I'm thankful to the guys doing the hard work.
However, I've had the same experience. My initial non-nav version 2.2 to 3.0 update with build 17194 went without a hitch. But the mislabeled non-nav 17276 build messed up Gracenote and introduced the wifi popup. (Yes I know there's always a chance things can go sideways and I accept that risk). The real 17276, posted today, fixed neither of these issues but SYNC still works and it does feel a little snappier, but maybe that's in my head. Live and learn... Anyway, aside from Gracenote and the annoying popup, everything works well. I can certainly live with it and it won't stop me from trying the next build that gets released. Maybe that will fix Gracenote and the popup.
There really is none if you have 17194 working.

; Gen 3 - Assembly Update - NonNav/NEU - 17276
i confirmed that it was north american version, I think that might be a APIM issue (hardware)

All seriousness now...that stands for Non-Europe (EU). This is a carry over from the official 2.2 release.
People can edit it to say whatever they want. These are not official updates and should be treated as such. If someone wanted to intentional really mess up some APIMS, they could create an update with totally mismatched files (operating system versus GN versus Language Pack) and wreak havoc on people.
My advice is make sure you are getting it from a trusted source and the file versions are grouped correctly. I haven't looked but if the files in the two different 3.0 version only have the operating system different, that really is the only file you need to load. This could be one of the reasons why the non nav GN are getting hosed. I am talking going from the early 3.0 to the latest 3.0.
Do you know if there is a key or list that shows which file is the OS, which is Gracenote, etc? Something that identifies what each file is? Maybe it's possible to restore Gracenote and leave everything that intact....

I'm sure you know where these came from, because I know where they came from. It's easy to figure out when you look at the file headers, compare it to which model of Ford it belongs to and then which user owns that style of Ford and contributes an overwhelming amount useful information to all Ford Sync related forums.
Thou shal not be named.
I got the zip file directly from that person. To keep everyone on track for these non-official packages. In the future I think I'll post post a simple video to show the file works and the checksum of that file.
It may ease the mindset of those who hold no confidence in user self-produced updates without any change logs. On the other hand, I also understand the gullibility of some users. (future video: "this version of sync cures cancer" lol).
Everyone needs to understand that the potential to install malware and the more scary timebomb based initiated ransomware into your vehicle is completely possible.
Yes, Ford is different than Chrysler and sync connect is not on the Sprint network; however, the only thing that separates your APIM from your PCM is a gateway in the BCM and I'm nearly certain the devs of ForScan have already found holes in it.
There is a reason why my on-board WiFi is always disabled.
I assure everyone though that the internet is completely safe. Please post your credit card number in response for safe keeping... 'no' you say?....well, if anyone thinks publicly posting credit card information online is pure stupidity, then consider waking up on Christmas morning with your electronic E brake jammed on or fuel pump relay disabled until you send some form of monetary value overseas.
Not only is this possible, it has already happened!
if you want to install files online into your car. Know the risks involved and verify your sources.

My intent here is not to hijack this thread.it's just that; everybody, yes everybody regardless of what you know about cars, Ford or technology should take 45 minutes of their time to watch this. It will completely change your outlook of technology in vehicles for at least the next decade.
If anything, it will at least serve as the finest example / public service announcement for this thread and the risks of what malware in your something as simple as you radio can lead to.
Watch it!
Yes it is long and I know some people here have short attention spans. But even if you know nothing about technology I assure you this video becomes very entertaining (around 18 min mark) as it progresses and it demonstrates how poorly the auto industry understand 21st century automotive risks.
Enjoy!

For the record regarding the 30:12 mark in that video. Ford signs the modules in their update package. Modifying the firmware on the user end is still very complex but not impossible..
