As much as I would like to have Android Auto in my 2016 Platinum, I am choosing to wait for an automatic update. If that never comes, I'll just be satisfied without it. For me, it isn't worth all the headaches I have been reading about in this thread, and the potential expense of a new APIM. I will check back periodically for updated info. Thanks to all who have told their update stories. You guys are more ambitious and braver than I am. :-)

I have a 16 platinum and use Android Auto all the time. You should have a Sync 3 system so all you would need to do is update to V2.2 or better. It normally goes pretty easy to update it.

Default Not sure update worked

I just tried to update my 16 f150 from version 1 to 2.2. The download said it was successful, i turned the truck off, waited 5 minutes before turning it back on. However apple car play still isnt showing and when i go to check the version it still says version 1.0.

Did you replace the USB hub also. Even if you get the the v2.2 working you will need a new hub.

You only need V2,0 or better for Android Auto.

Only if you have an Apple phone. Android auto works with existing hubs on 16.
