downloaded from ford site, unzipped, put it on a 4gb 2.0 PNY flash dr. trying to avoid any issues I turned on auto updates parked truck into garage first time ver 1.0 checked updates 3/16/2016, shut it down waited an hour started it again same thing but left it running about 20 min, checked updates went to todays date still v 1.0, shut it down went back 2 hrs later started truck same as just before shutting it down last time let the truck run a while later went back to sync to see if it checked for updates again, and their was a typical software loading bar underneath said downloading update. nothing on the main sync screen though. I thought great went away for 10 min came back the bar was gone, no software was successful installation msg. let truck run? got onto chat with ford sync no real help there. truck ran for about 1hr 15 min shut it off waited a min turned it back on same ver 1.0 checked for upodates about the time I originally started truck last time.
the chat girl die say to reset the module select radio and hold down power button ane scrool rt button at same time.

reset the module firured what do I have to lose took the flash drive with files in it put it into usb sloe driver side started truck . great, bar across the top of sync screen says updating software. I think great go for a ride around the development don't want more idle time. before I get out of development msg says installation successful remove your usb drive changes will take affect the net time you start vehicle as I remove my flash drive sync reboots itself. not even 10 min.

go down street turn around back in garage shut truck off wait 2 min "chat girl said 1 min enough" turn truck back on still ver 1.0 thrie are no numbers after grascenote don't remember if they were there when I started. I thought oh it will just take a little time to show the ver 2.2

put my flash drive into my pc looking for the file with my vin in it, no file.

I never paired my phone wanted to wait for update . so the only way to really tell is to install android auto on my phone and pair it????
so other than sync saying ver. 2.2 or putting android auto on my phone and syncing only way to tell if installation was successful?????

the tw0 times i drove the truck after the update started i quickly got successful install without it updating to 2.2.

then i reset the module unblocked the zipped files, reformatted in exfat 4gb drive.

started truck plugged drive in. Updating software displays. This time i left truck in park after 15 min not enough memory message.

getting a 32gb drive today and will try again

I did the original 2.2 update from 1.0 or 1.1 (I forget which came on truck) with nav a few days after it was posted here and there were some positive results posted. Haven't had any problems with it since. Logged in today and saw hubbub about it being officially released. Upon seeing this I went to the ford owner site and it served me a file that was seemingly the one that was linked here for the updated build that I'd already downloaded so I canceled that download, edited the autoinstall.lst by deleting all of it and copypasta-ing it in notepad from the post in this thread, wrote it all to 16GB fat32 flash drive, stuck it in the truck, read a book for ~10 minutes and it was done. Yanked the USB, turned the truck off, opened the door, waited 5 seconds, closed the door, turned full accessory power on and lo and behold it went from 16xxx to 17xxx! Thank you very much kind sirs and madams.

Yes Yes Yes
Probably the happiest man in England right now,
Finally got my 2.2 update working.
Hopefully this may help someone as I have had a nightmare.
First try I downloaded the update from Ford to a new unused 4gb Kingston USB stick and had the not enough memory problem so tried the Sync reset (holding down power and skip) and this did not help.
After many tries I finally gave up and disconnected the battery for 30 mins and this solved the memory problem.
Optimisticely I though my troubles were over and it downloaded then said remove USB and update will compete after restart.(tried exfat & fat32)
No it didn't work and I proceeded to try again and again over a few days until I gave up.
Now this morning I remembered reading about not all USB sticks are the same and dug around in my office and found a 10 year old used 2gb stick with no name on,
I formatted it exfat and plugged it in to the truck and it wasn't even recognised.
Next I formatted to fat32 and plugged it in and it started downloading then said remove USB and restart.
I restarted and hooray it had worked at last

Plug in your phone to the USB port with the truck off and start the truck. It should see the iPhone, ask a couple of questions and start CarPlay.

I finally get it to start loading the update and not give me bad installation file and after 20 minutes I get the out of memory message. I feel like this shouldn't be this hard.

You're going to have to pull the 10A fuse (#32) to fix this, and then start over. :\

You're trying to downgrade in order to fix the voice command bug? If so, I don't think soft booting Sync or resetting the module via fuse pull or battery disconnect will do a roll back to 1.x.

If you're trying something else, I apologize for mis-remembering.

Add mine to the list of updates that have Voice Recognition issues. I also so not have an Android Auto button under the Settings button. I installed the factory update yesterday following the instructions on the Ford site. My truck says I now have Very 2.2. So frustrating as it worked better before the update. Now I'm stuck. My download from Ford was 1 zipped file that unzipped into 1 directory folder and 2 files below it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
