Default Cruise Control and Sync Problem.

Hello All,

This is my first post here. I've been reading a lot, but havent found anyone with my problem.

I have a 2015 F-150 with 32k miles. It is a Super Crew with 302A package.

Here are my problems:

I can turn on the Cruise Control (CC) using the "On" button, and the grey stand by light comes on. When I press "Set +" or "Set -" nothing usually happens. I can press those buttons multiple times and the cruise won't set. I have been trying to randomly press the resume and cancel buttons, turn the CC on and off, and eventually I can get the cruise to set at a speed. But then if I try to use the set buttons to increase or decrease the speed it works intermittently. Sometimes I can only increase the speed, but not decrease, and vice versa. Sometimes I cant do either, and sometimes it works fine.

Another issue I noticed is when I quick press (short click and release) the Sync Voice button nothing happens. If I hold the button for about 3 seconds I can get the "Say your command..." message.

I just noticed today that after driving for a while, and messing with the buttons a bit, the voice button eventually worked normally with a quick press. After this the CC also seemed to work normally.

Sorry for the long post, just wanted to explain the details. Has anyone heard of anything like this before, or have any ideas on the cause?

Thanks for the help!

I found the 2014 service manual online, and it has the voltage pinning steps to check the various parts. I am not sure if these steps apply to the 2015, though.

Does anyone have the manual for the 2015, and if so would you be willing to share the section for troubleshooting the CC?

It sounds like the switch is bad. Maybe clock spring but that a known Jeep problem. The switch is pretty easy to replace. I would start there my self.

I have connected FORScan and read the button PIDs to see if that was the issue. While sitting in my driveway with the engine off the buttons all worked perfectly.

That lead me to believe the problem was either the PCM or SCCM.

I took the truck for a ride with the PIDs still reading. What I found was that when the buttons do not cause the right response on the dash, I also did not get a PID button response in FORScan. That makes it seem like the buttons are the problem.

The part that trips me up is that if the cruise buttons don’t work, I can play with the sync button, and then the cruise will work for a little while. That makes it seem like a programming problem.

So I have since taken the truck to the dealer to see what they say. They are going to replace the SCCM. It should be changed in the next couple weeks.

I will report back the results of the new SCCM.

Please let us know what they find out. Sounds like the same problem as me. What year is yours?

Also I made a video of the inoperation before I went in. I did that in case it worked while I was there. It was helpful to show that to the tech.

Got a call from my local ford dealership. They said the cruise control is working fine. That they could not duplicate my complaint. Imagine that. I showed them the video of it not working or responding to the buttons I pushed. On my way to pick it up. Watch. On the way home the cruise control won’t work correctly.

Did they not care about the video of the buttons not working?

So does your cruise work okay now, or are you still having the same issue?

I havent had a chance to bring my truck back to the dealer to get the SCCM installed, so still not sure if that will work. But my buttons do seem to be getting worse. It is hard to even get the cruise to come on now.
