I got about 2 gallons out with a long drain on the rad only. I'm sticking to the factory spec of 6 years or 100k miles, and pay attention to the instructions after the first change, miles and time all drop significantly for further service.

Unfortunately, i think it's a 7+ gallon system, so 2 gallons out mean i'll probably just keep up the shorter service interval and/or do the same thing again in the spring in order to get a higher % of yellow into the system.

Thank you, I will have to check out the next recommended change.

My manual says 4 gallons (15.9 qts) for the 5.0 so I hope to get most of it out

I'm not sure why you're doing all of this flushing, unless you have an engine block heater.

If you read both TSBs in the thread below, it doesn't matter if your engine has a block heater or not. TSB 19-2121 is for engines with a block heater and TSB 19-2122 is for the same engines without a block heater. The engines are the 5.0 (2015-2019), 3.3L/3.5L Duratec (2015-2019), and 3.5L Ecoboost (2015-2019). All require this flush it seems like.

Only in case of lack of heat....heater core hot, does not apply.

While true, this seems like good preventative maintenance because when this eventually does affect the heater core, it'll be a LOT more expensive to fix since it is a TSB and not a recall and will be on your dime. With the new coolant this shouldn't be an issue in the future.
