Coolant replacement
So, I'm going to be replacing the coolant im my 2015 Lariat (5.0 4x4) with 60,000 miles.
I plan to drain, run distilled a couple times and drain again. Refilling with the new yellow coolant that replaces the orange.
Has anyone done this on this truck and have any tips? Also, is replacing the upper & lower hoses recommended at this time? They aren't cheap but, have plastic parts that concern me.
Thanks for the replies

Personally, On first changes like this, I simply like to drain, measure, and replace with same amount I drained. I feel antifreeze is light years from the 70s, and if it looks fine, a simple exchange is good enough for me. Once you start injecting DI water, your concentrations start getting off. I wouldn't mess with hoses until after 100k.

Appreciate the reply. I think I will leave the hoses for next replacement....
I think the coolant is about the only fluid I plan to abide by the tech specs of 150,000 miles.
Anyway, if you are going to replace, following out the procedure you listed -After you drain what you can for the last time, I would pour exactly 1/2 the amount of total capacity with only straight coolant. That is the only way you are guaranteed to get at least a 50/50 mix. Continue to top off with distilled water until full.

The manual says to replace at 100,000 but I'm doing it early...
Any reason you feel the need to do early? If your system is closed and good, It's not really like motor oil that you might gain added benefit. I'm all for early maintenance, but if you don't have a need, man, I wouldn't spend the $ or time at 60k.
