Default Computer gremlins

Hello all, I have a weird one.

Two weeks ago I got my transmission replaced at a good shop. Since picking it up I've had a few issues related to computer functions and I assumed it had to do with maybe the computer resetting after the battery had been disconnected for a long while.

Primary issues I noticed are:
1. I can no longer start my truck remotely using the key fob, with either fob. Prior to this repair I used this feature all the time.
2. Easy entry (the drivers seat moving back when the door is open) does not work. Yes, I have this turned on in the dash settings.
3. Doo-dee-doo is loud and annoying when the door is open.

Here's the kicker...I took it back to the shop and these features worked flawlessly. Even the doo-dee-doo wasn't going off. I returned home and the features don't work again.

Is there something with the computer settings that would create this behavior - where features work based on location, wifi maybe? Is there some weird valet mode or setting that could limit features in this way? Does my truck just like the mechanic more than me?

I think the truck LIKES being near or in the shop/mechanic more than you.

Additional thoughts- maybe the battery was just lossing its state of charge when the truck is turned off for a while now. Try a LOOOOONG drive to recharge and test your issues immediately after shut down and then again after a cold soak. Maybe the battery is near "end of life". This really is a weird one.

Additional additional thought, after reading your first post again- check your batteries in the FOB, or try your second FOB.

Good thoughts.

I did have to replace the key fob battery immediately after picking my truck back up from the shop - I was surprised that had died so suddenly. It also seems that my truck battery tends to drain fairly easily even though it is only a few months old - I've had to use a jump starter since getting it back, but I've had the battery and alternator tested since and they are both working as they should. They just tested it at the shop and the battery was full and charging properly yet I still immediately lost the above functions upon arriving home.

I'm almost curious if the truck is somehow trying to connect to the shop's wifi - or something similar - where it is constantly pinging and draining power. But it's not all adding up to me. I'm not sure.

I've got the battery disconnected again to see if I can get the computer reset again.

Do the functions work else where besides just the shop? If so, maybe you have something interfering with the signal from the FOB at your house. I know LED lights have been known to interfere with garage door openers but, this would be a first that I've heard for FOBs. Just a thought.

I would start by fully charging your battery.

Can't get your issues out of my mind!
Your post #3 comments "I did have to replace the key fob battery immediately after picking my truck back up from the shop - I was surprised that had died so suddenly. Does the truck have a parasitic drain? Maybe a big one? Maybe your idea of WIFI trying to connect or something similar. I am not knowledgable about how these things work in the F150, MAYBE someone else on the forum can chime in.

Im going to have to go with yes.

Getting to my truck this am I noticed the dash display was illuminated, not sure why. Vehicle was off. All doors closed fully and locked.

This, with the aggressive doo-dee-doo does make me think that I’ve got something running that I’m unaware of. It’s the same alert as when you turn off the car but leave the headlamps on, but all lights are off so it’s not that.

It would be nice if there was a “task manager” similar to what a computer would have to tell you what processes are running. I’ll just keep chipping away at it I suppose.

Maybe a bad ground, loose connection or a bad light switch that is giving the computer a false message that the lights are on.

Another question I have been asking myself. When the transmission was replaced (assume R & R), what electrical harnesses/stuff was messed with. Maybe something there was not returned to correct location or not fully tightened.
