I know we hate to have to protect ourselves from our loved ones. I changed the garage door code the day after my ex wife moved out. I got a text a week or so later saying she came by to pick up stuff but the code didn't work and asked why I changed it. Duh....because you don't live here.

My ex g/f had my spare opener and knew the code. I changed it. She said once "I was going to drop off cake and birthday balloons but didn't know if your code still worked. I think that was odd to say without having tried it. that was 7 months after our break up. I did get balloons, but she brought them here when I was here, not a nice surprise that a g/f would do for me.

Nobody has my truck code, but one of the first things I did was chance my truck door code. If I had to offer the code to somebody, I'd change it after they used it or if it was a g/f I'd change it too if we were no longer together. Depending on their spite, failure to gain entry may result in a long key mark down the passenger side!

I guess advice to those reading who purchased new is to make a custom code and never share the factory code. I think my factory code is on my phone as a picture so I could refer to it if I ever need it.

FYI: I don't use the master code. I added a custom code that I use. If that ever gets compromised, I can wipe that and either use the master code or create a new custom code. Probably something for you to look into doing once you get yours reset.

Also, my dealer charges about $80 an hour for this kind of stuff, so just be ready. Lol
No, the dealer cannot change the master code for you.

One of the first things I did after realizing how much I like the keypad is enter in a secondary code. I never give anyone (and I do mean anyone) the factory code. I made a habit of using the secondary code in case someone is with me and watching what code I enter.
