Default center console plug(s)

So my xlt has the regular single 12volt accessory plug on the interior passenger side of the center console. There’s also a box shape on the driver side of it but there are no plugs. Was that for additional USB ports? Or nothing?

Sounds like you’re describing the space for the trailer brakes controller.

he's talking about in the bottom of the center console, under the armrest, not on the center stack of the dash. at the front of the center console at the very bottom is a 12v cig outlet on the passenger side of the console, the plug is cut out of a small plastic box that's part of the console. the driver's side has an identical box but no cig outlet in it. i do not know whether that's used for something else. i have an xlt with 302a, so maybe a lariat or higher trim package uses that? i'm not sure.

My 2018 Lariat has the same questioned unused area. Looks like a good mounting area for something.

My 2019 Lariat has the same spot. Maybe they did it to look symmetrical?

2020 Platty - driver side is also a blank.
Has anyone taken out or modified the console and done something like the Dometic console fridge and knows what is down there?

there's a great youtube video showing the install, if you haven't watched that you definitely should. it talks about what and where to cut, and shows you what's in it.
