Center Console: How solid?
The console is the way to go. I had the jump seat in my 15 and didn't like it much, more like hated it. I have the console now in the 17 and it is so much better all around. Storage space is crazy good. Right now I have hat, a pair of jeans and a t-shirt in it with enough room left for at least a six pack. The shirt and jeans are folded, lay flat not wadded up. I have put 3 Texas Roadhouse to go boxes in there before. I have never seen any center console as big as this one.
My wife's 2013 had and her 2017 has the seat. When I bought mine, I didn't really want the console, but it came with the truck. I was concerned about knee room to the side. It has less than the seat version, but it still doesn't hit my knee. It does have a LOT of storage space. You do give up the seat. It seems solid so far, but only 2500 miles.
I've got the Sports package with the center console complete with the tranny shifter.
There are no squeaks or rattles with the console itself.
The junk stored inside is another matter but still surprisingly non-existent unless off roading.
IMO, the huge storage capacity alone is enough to out weigh any kind of jump seat.
Why do you need a jump seat anyway?
