You have until 31 August 2021 to get the update done.
lol

"Customer Satisfaction Program"

How about they want to fix it rather than being forced to after many months?

did you have any cold start rattle or knocking at idle before the reflash?

Please keep us updated on if the reflash fixed the rattle.
How many miles are on your truck?

Will do for sure. I'm at just a hair over 38k miles.

Welp, still have the cold start rattle post ECM program update. I'll call the dealer Monday and let them know it's still not fixed. I took a video of it so they can hear it.

Is this PCM update intended to fix the issue if someone already has the rattle or just prevent it from developing to begin with?

No idea. I would imagine to fix it before needing to replace parts. Otherwise, what's the point.

On my 2010 5.4L 3V I solved cam phaser rattle with a VCT lockout kit from Livernoise Auto Parts, which included a Tune to lockout the VCT actuation in the PCM and aluminum blocks that fill the void space inside the phasers. It worked great and was a permanent one-time solution, but labor was not cheap.

I don't have phaser rattle on my 2017 F150, but I do have wastegate rattle which is easy to ignore. I'm curious if you also have wastegate rattle because they sound almost identical and IMO wastegate rattle is more prolific on all vehicles with a turbo these days.

Interesting. I have a 2016 3.5L Eco with 90K miles, and haven't heard the cam phaser rattle. I'll definitely keep in mind that there's an ESB for this.

Appreciate the heads up!
