Default Cabin filter light

I have been having trouble with the cabin filtration system staying on in my 2016. I changed the filter but after just a few minutes the light on the dash goes out every time i engage it.anyone have any suggestions.

I'd have to see a picture of the "light" and understand how you are "engaging the cabin filtration system." I can find nothing in the manual on this. No light in my manual and the filter is always "engaged." Replaced the filter twice.

I'm thinking OP means the recirculation button.

By chance do you have the front defroster on at the same time?

If you do mean recirculation, it won't stay on. Humidity sensors have the final say as to if you are allowed to recirculate or not.

Yeah...never seen a light for the cabin filter in my '15 or '18...I'm curious as to what light OP is talking about.

I am not sure there are humidity sensors. If there were the recirc would not run on those hot humid days. The recirc will not run in defrost but you can run it in other modes.

Don't worry, there are no cabin filter lights in the trucks. OP is probably operating under the misconception that you have to be in recirculation to filter cabin air.

The most common misconception is that cabin filters only filter incoming air. That is true for external filters that sit in the cowl. Our cabin air filtration system filters both incoming and recirculating air. You do not have to be in recirc mode for filtering to occur.

Yes, the system turns off recirc to reduce fogging, it's in the manuals.

Apparently there is now a humidity sensor. My mistake, Ford used to predict humidity through inference.

All Gen-13 F150s with A/C have a cabin interior temperature and humidity sensor.
