Default Button on left side of steering column

Back in July I bought a certified 2015 platinum 4x4 5.0 and am really enjoying the truck. Came from a 2013 lariat ecoboost and really enjoyed that truck as well. As I was driving a week or so ago I looked over and saw this button. Pressed it and nothing happened. Has a wire coming out of top and runs down behind the paneling, before I pull the panel off to trace the wire has anyone seen one of these before. I would imagine it’s not from the factory. Sorry about the sideways picture, have no idea how to rotate it.

It looks like an accessory lighting button. Does not look factory. (to me)

definitely not factory. is it a momentary swtich (depresses as soon as you let it go) or does it stay in position until you press it again?

I agree, I guess maybe I should hit it and step outside and see if anything comes on. I didn’t notice anything different in the interior when I pushed it earlier.

If you don't see anything, the prior owner may have removed the light to sell or put on their new truck and left the button so it didn't leave a hole.

Yeah it comes back out after being pushed. Just had my wife sit inside and press it on and off while I walked around the outside checking everything. Did not notice anything.

I don’t believe there is a hole as it runs into the crack where the two plastic panels come together but I believe you may be right as far as some kind of aftermarket light or something. I’m going to pull the panel off tomorrow and see where the wiring runs to.

Did you check to see if neighbors garage door opened or closed?

I have a button just like that, which is from my light bar. Maybe the person had aftermarket lights.

If you grab the panel where the wire runs in it will pop out and fold down. Then you can trace the wire and see where it goes.
