Bug Deflectors
Is the oem a Lund and does it mount with adhesive?
I like the looks of the AVS but am concerned about road salt getting behind the shield because the adhesive does not completely seal it.
I saw a video of a guy who mounted one, like in 2017 and had to remove it a year later because the adhesive was coming loose and it was starting to flap. Here it is...

Looks nice. Thats the way I am leaning, Ford shield.
Ford GL32-16c900a $92.86 lexan polycarbonate
Lund 18832 Interceptor $90 Polycarbonate , realtruck.com
Weathertech 5022 aerospace acrylic $60
AutoVentShade 25941 Bugflector II modified acrylic $60 Realtruck.com
Stampede acrylic $48 realtruck.com
The AVS and Weathertech appear to be the same thing as near as I can tell. At least they look the same to me and the installation instructions appear to be the same.

I’d be more likely to invest in one of these if they screwed into the hood, like the OEM version.
I remember the instructions for the AeroSkin II specifying that you should start from the center, removing the backing and sticking the deflector onto the hood going towards the fender, then do the other side. If you were to remove all the backing from the 3M tape and not take your time, you could have portions of the deflector that don't adhere well to the hood.
If you are doing the Aeroskin, follow the instructions and also ....do the install during the heat of the day. This will help the adhesive bond to the truck.
I had an Aeroskin flap off on a trip to NC. Looking back, I had installed on a cool, overcast day.

I liked the bolt on, but the touch less car wash doesn’t like it. It would “flap” during the blow dry stage, and I know all it would take is that one time for the damage to happen.
I watched the guys first video showing the installation. Looked like he did everything per the instructions. It wasnt perfectly centered but It looked like he was only off by 1/8” or so.
I really like the way the AVS looks, but I too live in an area that salts and “brines” the roads in winter and there is no way to easily remove the shield to clean behind it.
Has anyone ever tried using Velcro in place of the 3m adhesive strips?

There is a few spot that water can drain out but nothing that is concerning be about salt. I live in Ontario, Canada, and “we love” salt here in the southern part of it threw out the cold season. The 3m tape runs along the leading edges, so in reality, if anything gets behind it should be very, very minimal.
As for felcro, wouldn’t even think about it lol.
