I have an AVS aeroskin on my 2016 for the last 4 years. Not one single issue or concern.

 

Does the Aero II cover the hood sticker on a sport package with the black decal package? BTW 2018 screw lead foot.

 

I just bought a AVS bug deflector 2 today from my local advanced auto for 45 bucks. i really liked the look of the aeroskin but they had the BD2 in stock so i went with that. install was easy, but we'll see how she holds up

I went with Aero II. This style was preferred over regular Aero unit. Also was conscience of other owners experiences. II seemed a good choice based on others feedback and outcomes. Ordered from Amazon. Unlike other postings, mine was a good fit.
Will continue to monitor performance of adhesion to ensure we don’t have issues similar to others.

 

No issues with my Aero 2. I go thru the touchless carwash about every other week, no issues so far.

 

First off, I live in Michigan and we have harsh winters. I do snow plowing, and my truck sits outside year long and I power wash my truck regularly. You WANT gaps in the adhesive tape. This allows water to run under the deflector and rinse anything under there out and secondly, it allows for air to flow through and dry the surface of the hood out. I went with an AVS Aeroskin that was paint to match. The install instructions are sub par. You need to clean the surface of the hood thoroughly in order for it to really adhere. There is absolutely no movement in mine at all.




1) Clay bar the hood
2) Use alcohol prep wipes to clean any clay bar residue off and let dry.
3) Use a heat gun to warm the hood and the adhesive on the deflector before sticking it down.
4) Use clamps to really adhere the deflector to the hood, rewarming the hood and adhesive in small sections as needed.

 

My Aeroskin II arrived today from Amazon. It was 91 out, so I installed it on my 2020 F150 XLT with the help of my lovely assistant (the BW). I washed the hood with No Rinse, then used Griots clay sponge with Meguires final inspection, then the alcohol (on the hood, not in me at that time), and then the prep wipe. It was fairly easy, fits exactly right with one little exception - - I misaligned my side, the left side of the hood and there's a bit of a gap at bottom, about a 16th inch, and I can see a little bit of the red hood. Should I use a heat gun tomorrow and try to loosen the tape in that area to reposition it or should I just let it go? I have clamps on it in 4 places overnight. I certainly don't want to risk it coming off if I disrupt the tape.

 

I would leave it. That stuff is not made to be removed and reapplied. I left my clamps on for an hour.
