Update: dealer called today and said that it’s started for them every day since they got it. They can’t find any codes in the system(how I don’t know the check engine light and brake error light were on when it was towed), and they’ll look at it one more time but I can pick it up tomorrow.
Im really not happy, I can’t worry about it not starting while I’m out with the kids(age 2 months and 18 months). I have two long road trips planned coming up. I can’t worry about the truck not starting with them in it!
All I can do is not drive it with the kids in it for awhile. If it happens again and they can’t find it I’ll have to get rid of it.
Anyone have advice on what to do?

If the engine didn't start then the check engine light was on because ignition was in the on position. It's very frustrating when it works perfectly at the service department. I suggest videoing it if it does it again so you can show the service department. I understand your apprehension about taking your family on a long trip given it's recent problems.

Just curios.....how much fuel was in it? And, you said you moved it to level ground, how steep of an angle was it on and which way was facing downhill?

Certain CEL codes can clear automatically after a number of restart cycles or after some miles driven.
Note to myself: scan for CEL codes myself before taking my truck to the dealer, just in case.

I was at 100 miles to empty, I average about 13mpg. The hill was not that steep, it’s in a parking lot that’s built to handle storm water to the center drain. I brought that up the dealer when they called. They said no codes it’s a needle in a hay stack....

This is strange. The tech involved is lying, accidentally cleared the CEL code, did a CEL scan after all those every day starts or the CEL automatically cleared itself.

Some people have been having problems starting up on a hill under a quarter of a tank, seems crazy to me, but that's what some people say.

I had an Expedition with this issue... it's a long, fairly narrow tank, and the pump is biased to one end. I had 1/4 tank when I parked, and it wasn't a ridiculous slope... but after sitting a bit, it wouldn't crank off. I had to drop to neutral, roll out into the (fairly busy) street, crank it, and haul ***. It was fun.

Got the call to come pick it up, not happy. I agree I’ve read that and it is crazy. I’m not, not going to park on hills or make sure I have more then quarter tank! We’ll see what happens.
