I previously posted a thread about a flag holder I made with an e-track wood beam socket holder (thread link). However, I was never content with this solution, as the e-track moved around a lot in the Boxlink receiver.
I had an extra Boxlink cleat that I was considering having a metal tube welded to, but opted for a project I'd be able to tackle myself.
I went to Home Depot and grabbed some pipe fittings from the plumbing isle to create the flag holder. I used a floor flange, nipple, and "T" and painted it black to look nice. I then used a scrap piece of 1x4 I had lying around to attach the pipe fitting to. I trimmed up the wood, routed the edges, gave it a sand, threw some stain on it, and put a couple coats of poly to finish it off. I attached the fittings to the wood with some nuts, washers, and bolts. With that attached I secured the wood to the Boxlink cleat with some additional hardware.
I used the cotter pin from my previous design and just drilled a hole below where the "T" fitting fell on the flag pole. This way the flag can't move upwards.
It's not perfect, but it's an upgrade to the previous design I had that was bugging me all winter.
