Default Flag Pole Mount Using E-Track Wood Beam Socket

Did a quick search for flag pole mounting solutions and didn't see anything like this, so I figured I would share.

I wanted a non-permanent solution that I could use for weekends and whatnot. Didn't want to break the bank.

Parts:
E-Track wood beam socket
Scrap 2x4
Scrap 1" PVC
Cotter pin
Some wood screws
American flag on wooden pole (from a Home Depot display)
Black spray paint

I drilled a couple of oversized pilot holes into one side of the PVC and screwed into the end of the 2x4 scrap. Attached the 2x4 into the e-track wood beam socket. Placed the flag pole into the PVC to the desired height. Drilled a pilot hole through the PVC and the flag pole and installed the cotter pin.

There's a little bit of sway with the e-track in the box link mount, so I added a small bungee cord to attach to my bed divider.

Took 10 minutes to make and I've had it up to 60 MPH with no issues at all.

I'm sure that flag creates a lot of drag. Id be worried about it snapping where the hole was drilled through for the cotter pin.

But it's still contained in at least 3" of pipe length, so it probably won't bend enough to be an issue. Good lookin' out, though!

OP, nice lil' rig! Thanks for showing it to us.

I won't pretend to be an engineer, but the PVC is tight enough around the pole that it cotter pin hole doesn't really come into play. It's just to prevent up and down motion.

If you're looking for a basic solution for driving around town, I think you can make this design work for you safely.

ssharkey8 - Thank you for posting, I was struggling to figure out how to do this - here is a pic of how I set mine up. I added the zip tie as it was a bit wobbly as you had mentioned. It is solid now.
