Default BLIS With a Trailer

Anyone else having this problem with “BLIS’ while towing a trailer?

I have a 2019 XLT, 3.5 w/max towing package; BLIS currently works fine without the trailer and worked fine for the first 3000 miles with the trailer.

Now for some unknown reason it (BLIS) will not work when I attach my travel trailer… the truck does recognize the trailer because I see the alert that the “Trailer is attached” on the dash readout but immediately another box pops up and says, see picture below.

I've tried everything I can think of, like deleting the trailer and adding it back in, etc... I can look and see that there is a trailer in the database, etc..

I brought it to the dealer yesterday and so far they don’t have a clue… they said they’ve referred it to the “Tech Hot Line for Assistance” and to stand by.. just asking…

I'm going to reach out on a limb and say they don't want to be responsible for your trailer hitting a car when you change lanes so they just turn the system off altogether. The other vehicle may be in the path of the trailer when you change lanes but it not pick up the car b/c it's too far back. Also I'm assuming the cross traffic alert is cut off b/c the trailer is in the way. Just a guess as I have a peasant XLT without BLIS.

The feature "BLIS" is actually advertised and is talked about in detail in the manual... same feature that "lights the little amber car" in your mirror when a car is next to you.

I believe if you create a profile for that trailer you can select the length and it will activate BLIS again. But cross traffic stays disabled. At least that's how it is on my 2017.

Maybe check out this thread as well: https://www.f150forum.com/f82/bliss-...railer-416172/

Your limb just broke...

If it's a conventional trailer, and setup properly, as stated in the video, it will work fine.

My feeling is they will eventually fix it... just hate bringing the truck in again!
I loved it when it worked towing the trailer, I had plenty of warning when being passed by the semi's.

Did you have BLIS with extended trailer monitoring? I don't have BLIS and don't have all the details, but I've read on the forum that you can setup trailers to have BLIS monitor along their length, and if you don't setup a trailer, it shuts BLIS off, which makes too much sense as some people use BLIS as an excuse to be the lazy driver they want to be.

Well what do you know, it did break!!! I'll hop back over to my peasant section and let the big boys get back to it.

Thanks VerTDznS for the link to the thread... sure enough under settings the Trailer Blind Spot option was unchecked... I checked it and it WORKS again!

Proving yet again the contributors to the forum more valuable than the dealers.
